Just realised I drive past the XMOS building twice a day (to work and back) might stop off on the way home, weather permitting.

Let just see how much better (if at all) this board will be than "old Macs". And how much it will costs.

@Flystone

At the moment there are three versions of OS4.1 , A1, Sam440 and pegasos (the latest one)

none of which stopped from having updates the previous.

That's true, but this time many more changes are necessary to fit AmigaOS 4 to the new hardware. The difference between the "classic new Amigas" an "the all-new-new Amigas" is bigger than between an A One, Pegasos II or Sam.

@DrZarkov

You have understood exactly what I meant to ask.
Now I just wish Hyperion kindly responded to my questions.
Especially to see if the relationship ccon Acube continue. This means that if you invested my savings are not wasted on Sam.

@ALL

Just a though community members... when the new hardware and software is announced soon... would it not be worth setting social sites alight with this news... such as in getting "a-eon" or "hyperion" to set up MyFace and SpaceBook accounts up and starting the big bang party off...

I am sure there will be thousands of followers...

The back to front was intentionally by the way... har har har!

@DrZarkov

Only the kernel, and device drivers need to be ported/created.Every other file in the AmigaOS CD is the same for all platforms.

for what we know it could already be working, although just in 32Bit mode and using a single core, or even further advanced, only the involved developers might know.

We were already planning a big Amiga party, as 2010 is the 25th birthday of our dear Amiga. It seems that the party will become a little bit bigger.

Yes, if the CPU uses 32 bit compatibility mode then only 'ported' kernel

But, if the CPU uses 64 bit mode... then many more things will be affected.

And, if the XMOS part is to be integrated in the OS, maybe as an optional device, that would need lots of 'creation'

If all parts are up and running, there has been lot's of work behind the scenes

@Flystone

IMHO ACube & Samantha are an integral part of AmigaOS4.x (and beyond )
