My guess is that they're waiting for their secretive CPU partner to announce themselves. If this is supposed to happen at CES, we'll know by the 10th (that's the last day). If it's not going to be announced at CES or some other event happening within the next week or so, then they'll lose the momentum they have garnered so far. People have a short attention span.

20W is great! This is less than half the power consumption of C2D chip! Intel's newer chips don't seem to need any less power. They just keep upping the caches.
It is more than likely much more powerful than any Atom or ARM chip - it wouldn't be hard.
Don't forget the mention of a "range" of CPUs. There are lower-power options out there for sure.
We have to wait some more to get more details, of course.

It is possible to build an extremely quiet Amiga. The low power consumption lends itself very well to compact form-factors - A1200 style and possibly (way in the future when it makes financial sense) a portable/laptop design. It would also make a nice HTPC. |
I think this could be a great way forward for the new machine... HTPC or Media centre Amiga (MCAX1000 under the telly anyone?) with the xcore/xorro combination you could have it controlled via ir remote, or have it control home theatre lighting (i.e. ambilight clones etc) and external dvd players, blu ray players via a xorro ir board....

One thing that helps keep my PC quiet is an iSilence video card. HIS iSilence video card
It is PCI-E, ATI, it has no fan, and does not require an power supply connection. The Zalman heatsync and heat pipe design keeps it cool and quiet. I have been using these for a while and I love them.Last edited by DoodooHead on 08-Jan-2010 at 07:19 PM.

I'm with you on that Plaz! I also just got caught up on this 3 part " MAP == A-Eon.com? " topic too.... A most exciting read....Whew!
@All
Took me several days reading but now I'm back in the Amigaworld.net groove visiting several times a day not just a few times a month and it feels good!
Very inspiring news and I didn't have to wait "two more weeks" either.
Thanks Hyperion et al.
I'm eager to follow these developments.

well one year ago we had this to talk about and boy did the community get excited with, its a shame this year we haven't really got something like this again, but still I will remember this time last year was the best it had been on amiga web sites for a very long time.
PS: email from aeon says they should get the x1000 shipped in the first quarter so they maybe a year late and perhaps it would of been better if they only announced it now, but I think 2010 would not be the half the year it was with out this development and being able to look forward to something that might revive the amiga world a bit rather than just plodding on. that just my thoughts. We can only hope that 2011 is even better! _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

If the delay means they ship better quality machines then it should have been worth the wait. I for one am looking out for the first hands-on reviews of the machine. _________________ Back home... |

Excellent news. A delay on releasing the X1000 gives Hyperion more time to bundle more important features in the next AmigaOS release. Best comes to those who wait.
Secondly, this gives more time to the Frieden Brothers to complete a full FF port. AmigaOS needs a standard web browser that everyone is familiar with in and outside the community - personally speaking I spend a lot of my time surfing the net, using forums, visiting youtube, ebay etc so for me buying an X1000 and having TW bundled or available for download is absolutely vital if the platform as a whole is to gain any ground.
Back to AmigaOS development I hope Hyperion can continue to integrate Filer, Push4Dock and PrefsCenter-like functionality (and much more besides!) into the OS itself.
Finally, as a Mac OS X user for a number of years I have been accustomed to seeing files in folders/drawers as a preview image. During 2010 its good to have read that Hyperion have hinted this will be a feature of the OS sooner rather than later.
Happy New Year and All the best for 2011 to everyone!
