I mirrored them each day. With A-Eon's permission, I could host them (somewhere) and have them available in chronological order so people could see them as we did.

I want to made you all my thanks for you are mirroring a very interesting and funny moment of the Amiga History.

Do not listen people talking of over-zealotry!

Amiga it is the only platoform in which even the announcements of new hardware makes our boring lifes with a little of salt and pepper and being teasing and funny...

Other platforms announcement are so serious and grave in comparison to us.

Enjoy Amiga...

...(And Keep Alive testimonies of its history for future readers).

Yeah Steve Jobs actually demonstrates products when he unveils them - ON STAGE! He give a Keynote speech to try and sell it to the world! Why does he bother when a small viral style web riddle would be seen as more exciting

When a new Amiga Hardware company is unveiled (A-Eon), the Operating System developer (Hyperion) keeps a low profile and if anything disassociates itself from the new development!! Yes, I can see why this is so much more exciting - the suspense over whether we're wasting our time and money and the questioning why we even care!

Big announcements are fun! Having Debbie Harry and Andy Warhol at the launch of the A1000 was fun ! Having William Shatner in the C= Vic adverts was fun ! This certainly isn't fun, it's viral marketing and it sucks!!

@BigD

It has been stated elsewhere on aw.net by TrevorD that the riddle was made because they knew that the community expected some news around new year - that's why they made the pages.

There will be an official press-release later.

Steve Jobs have actually various dozens and dozens millions more than any Amiga based company.

He could made all the show going on...

With a little effort and zero cost, Hyperion A-Eon made us a very big surprise and keeping our mind in exercise with smart puzzles.

As these 6 HTML pages attracted a very big amout of people, made lots of Amigans return to deal with the machine and it also was reported worldwide... then IMHO it had a very big-little success.

And me too found it very funny....

It doesn't benefit Hyperion to hold back confirming a partnership with A-Eon. It's almost as if they want to perpetuate this random guessing and wasteful prediction process!

I really don't see why they HAVE to "confirm" it. Rogue & Hyperionmp have revealed details unknown to the public. It's clear to anyone except extreme paranoids that it will run OS4 in some fashion. Comparisons with ACK don't bear scrutiny.

If you want to be suspicious, maybe they haven't announced OS4 for it yet, because it'll run "OS5" (OS4 rewritten for dual-core, etc)? So announcing it'd run OS4 would technically be a lie... At least, once they officially announce OS4 for it, they will be expected to give details about how well it will support the dual-core CPU & Xena, and they may not be *quite* ready to do that yet.

perhaps on topic:

I've not seen new news yet about the NG CPU.

Only the following:
" Seamless Integration Of Heterogeneous 3rd Party Co-processors In PowerPC-Based SoCs"
http://www.power.org/news/pr/view?item_key=ca049e466f423f8ec2f2f5a821a092430cc261f3

It could be some PPC&Xcore design example ... or not...

Well, perhaps ACK and Troika aren't the best examples, but how about comparing with Moana?

It was hinted for a long time, and in the end, we all know what became of it.

Moana was also neither offical released...

It just run in the wild a pirated copy of a development version of it and this infamous situation disgusted so much the developers that they ceased any further coding of Moana...

(and this was the real only official announcement)

From the fact that the a-eom site is now timing out, along with the hyperion site (due to the recent release of the OS 4.1 update 1), it would even seem that Hyperion is hosting the a-eon site for them. It's very hard to dispute this now.

It's not hurting them to not make a specific press release that they're in partnership with A-Eon. It's blatantly obvious. It would seem that only bitter members of this community are the only people who seem to have issues with the situation.

Not from Hyperion no. But, they have not acknowledged AmigaOne X1000 either.

Don't you think we have had enough of this kind of hardware announcements, a third party telling about "new hardware for AmigaOS", without confirmation from the OS-makers?

It wasn't no.
But still it was necessary to pre-promote it in forums?
The same thing A-Eon has done so succesfully.

This riddle was a genious move PR-wise, I just hope the hardware support gets confirmed from Hyperion soon so it doesn't become just another chapter of "what could have been".

I agree about riddle being a smart genious move...

I agree about we all want to see solid silicon presented officially in any Amiga events.

But again Moana was only ruomored, no pre-promoted.

It was us who have inside informations and unconfirmed comments from ACube who rumored the Moana project and created the hype (I was in that number), and if I remember well, despite of the fact Moana has been pirated, then only pre-promoting of it was infatcs from Bill Mc Ewen stating "we have even AmigaOS running on Macintoshes" or something similar.
(Other people may remember better than me and recall the links to the right discussions in which there was buzzing about Moana).

@all

First... sorry for me english... and ... all is only from what i find on internet...

Project Moana:

NOT NEED ANNY PERMISSION FROM APPLE... is 1.logical 2.all newer PPC Apple have OpenFirmware (=standart for PPC and legal door/help for alternative OS)

I think... "Pirates" version of Moana is low/none-cost "developerboard" and PR for AmigaOS4, Hyperion, MAP, etc...
Whole AmigaOS4 on MacMini is same as for A1... different is "only" patched bootloader, some macmini drivers ...
"Pirates" version don´t have drivers for USB MassStorage, Soundcard, Network/Wifi/BT... bootloader compiled only with CD boot support.
In theory this is not for normal usage... but really works.

Unofficially-officially is on internet info about work by Andrea Vallinotto 14 month on AmigaOS4 port to Apple PPC (drivers,bootloader, etc..).
Andrea Vallinotto is official coworker for Hyperion for OS4+, minimal for: UBootPrefs, MediaToolbox, ScsiSpeed(from 2007),some code for rtg.library, BIOSUpdater, SLB_V2(SecondLevel bootloader)

I hope that Moana will be part of MAP = use PPC Apple as lowpower HW for OS4x...

And X1000 ?

Simply Genial-Mysterious PR/MessageToCommunity... people for people.. unofficially-officially
- Rogue post 31.1.2009 screenshot with status of Timberwolf with a-eon.com (Rogue is also (co?)worker for Hyperion)
- on a-eon.com one clue for one day... Rogue, TrevorD and others Hyperions (co?)worker post reply/answer...
- 5.1.2009 - X1000 specification... know is: high-end board,XCore, MIN CPU spefification & MAX price & MAX final date...
- 14.1.2009 - with OS4.1 Update1 Hyperion say:
"Hyperion Entertainment wishes to thank its loyal customerbase for their continued support without which the recently revealed project with A-EON Technology would not have been possible.

I hope that in MAP is regular Amiga comeback... second multiMediA-comPuter-revolution presented by X1000...

I think that in MAP is interest MANY people... from Amiga/OpenSource developers, old/new Amiga owners/lovers, some of old Amiga makers and some genius...
.... or i´m extreme paranoid... :)

What does this MAP word mean?

I have seen it a few times and not sure what it is all about.

Just curious.

@MacSociety

"Most Ambitious Project" - when Hyperion mentioned they'd have something new out in Q4/2009, this is what they later dubbed it as - their "Most Ambitious Project Ever", hence MAP.

@TheDungeonDelver

I believe the MAP was first mentioned when they upgraded their web site, and everyone had to re-register. They said they upgraded it in preparation for their most ambitious project yet.

Read the news item here (Feb 2009)

Ok.. for their 10th anniversary, not in preparation for M.A.P. (but it was the first mention of M.A.P. )

I thought that development of Moana stopped around a year prior to the pirated version becoming available and the reason for development stopping was down Amiga Inc's lack of willingness to work out a contract for it to be made available for sale.
