@AmigaHeretic

Except the CPU, but in the speculation it was decided that it's a PA Semi CPU, or something brand new. Nothing else fits the description.

I already concluded that the board manufacturer was Varisys, in this thread about a month ago.
http://amigaworld.net/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=30452&forum=2#533135
To summarise,
1) their extensive experience creating embedded solutions featuring high-end PPC chips. and
2) their high profile partnership with XMOS(practically the X in What is X?), taking the form of speaking at the XMOS conference, and
3) their news announcement that "After two and half years of working together Varisys and XMOS have complete(d) their 16th development/evaluation board."
make them the likeliest candidates.

If I am wrong I am prepared to stand down as President of AmigaWorld.

I hope so because it would be fun to watch Thom Holwerda, of OSNews eat his socks.

Funny you mention this... for example the iPhone shipped six months after it was presented by Jobs (and first rumors dated back some years).

As for ACube, I have had and continue to have a close working relationship with them as those who have benefited from my Developer Hardware Loan/Donation scheme can testify. To date my scheme has funded and donated 16 OS4 systems to various Amiga developers (which includes nine full price SAM440 systems purchased from ACube). I have just signed an agreement to supply the 10th SAM system for another exciting OS4 software project.

That is great news indeed.

Its also quite mystifying how anyone could spend over $1k for anything that runs Amiga OS as there is NO SOFTWARE.

Yes, it's quite amazing the number of people who bought Sam440s when they can't be used for anything. And my Sam440 gets used in preference to my Windows box, because OS4 has no software. (end of sarcasm)

No need to exaggerate, just because OS4 doesn't do what you want (yet).

Got bored of posting flame-bait yet? Posting it a second time doesn't make it any more worth replying to.

@AmigaHeretic

Actually you are wrong again. I believe Rogue/Entzilla posted quite clearly that they had a board and were working on it.

It seems you missed a lot of information but this is not the type of information you should post on a professional website.

And BTW: Hyperion is not A-EON. A-EON is a separate company but obviously Hyperion has a close working relationship with A-EON since Hyperion is in the process of porting AmigaOS 4.1 to the A-EON hardware.

@AmigaHeretic
Good things come to those who wait. Demanding info from Hyperion/AEon isn't going to do any good - they have their own timetable, dictated by how fast the project is progressing. No need for paranoia, the people involved are known to be reliable. We have a deadline anyway.

The CPU seems to be under some sort of NDA, and in any case it's probably part of their "second PR push", so I don't expect it to be announced until the X1000 is (nearly?) ready for sale. If you haven't forgotten, Troika/etc announced all sorts of details including CPU, sound chip, etc, and still didn't deliver, so I don't really see the CPU has any relationship to whether the X1000 appears or not. The background of the people involved is probably far more telling.

If you still can't stand the large (but incomplete) info given about the X1000, then I suggest you turn your expectations down & go find something else fun to do (e.g. learn Blender). When stuff happens you can be pleasantly surprised

@Hyperionmp/TrevorDick

I'm sure you guys have your reasons for not telling us what cpu will be used on the X1000, but can you give us a REAL reason why you can't tell us?

Actually, all I want to see right now is the case.

I love slick looking boxes so hoping the X1000 is just that, slick looking. The power of the system is just a bonus. hehehe

@sundown

I don't have any privileged information, but isn't it reasonable to expect that it's because commercial agreements and contracts have not been finalised? I would imagine that the development so far has been using "sample" chips, not committing to the real expenditure until they know it all works as designed.

Sorry, "reasonable" might not be what some other posters want

An official statement to that effect would be a start, just want to know why they can't tell us, not to much to ask for.

I clearly said "official" unless you are saying Rogue/Entzilla posting on a forum is now is an "Offical" statement from Hyperion.

Again, where are these things posted? What CPU is the board using? I mean this is the most basic of questions, yet I cannot find "Official" information on this. So, if I missed something I am sorry, but I do not believe I have on this issue.

If I am correct then why are A-EON keeping the CPU a secret?

Quote:

If you are not the same company then why are you trying to answer for them?

I am saying that A-EON has announced the x1000 but won't even show us a full picture or tell us the CPU.
