@umisef

Yes, mathematically you are right, that's how tax accounts calculate.
In the USA, UK its different, besides we don't even know if the price includes VAT or not, let alone the exact NORTH OF 1500 PRICE.

@umisef

Yes indeed an serious price tag.
I feel though that this is a machine can be used to move Amiga OS forward.
The first Amiga OS release for it will be as announced, 4.1u2 or so.
Will Hyperion take a gamble and fork the Amiga OS at this point ?
Add the needed enhancements that will break OS4.1 software as the option of dual booting
will be available ?

Well, if you look closely, you'll find that the working machine did not have a Xena chip installed.

BTW: how many people attended and where there any non-Amiga media coverage?

I reckon there was about 50-70 people gathered around, although my estimating ability is bad at the best of times!

I saw one guy taking notes on a note pad, 2 others filming - one on a camcorder stood just in front of me, another on an iPhone - note sure if any of those were media people. No-one I saw had a name badge with a magazine name on it or anything. I suspect the Amiga column MicroMart reporter was there though, cos he made 2 mentions of the VCF in this weeks MicroMart.

@TrevorDick

Just got home from the show, was a really good day, was fun seeing all the old spectrums/acorn/bbcs/amstrads, but was even better seeing pretty much one whole marquee just for Amiga types.

Got loadsa clips and the A-Eon speech (thou rather quiet from my psp recording) but il put them on youtube soon.

Big Thanks TrevorDick, Frienden Bros, Hyperion, Acube, of course now Varisys. Also to all the other guys for bring the Amigas along :)

Looks like I might beat you to the A-Eon Speech, 'tis uploading to YouTube right now

The audio was better than I thought from my webcam, I could probably clean the audio up a little, but I don't think people will want to wait for that

I'll post a seperate topic "When it's Done" (Currently 51% uploaded - should be done in about an hour I think if this wireless connection in my hotel room holds out )

Wonder if that was a gigabit PCI ethernet card or not.

@Spectre660

You couldn't get on the Internet with OWB, I tried that, the fact it's a card suggests the drivers for the onboard networks not ready let.

Ditto for the SATA/PCI Express graphics ports.

But we all know it's not ready let don't we?

Also CPU was passively cooled.

--------------
High Quality Version of the first video, with a few pics added at the end

it should be in full 720p HD, not too sure why there is a big black boarder around it?

I didn't take many pics, there were too many people around with big propa cameras, so I assumed they would take better pics than me.

But here's the back of the board

> You couldn't get on the Internet with OWB, I tried that, the fact it's a card suggests the drivers for the onboard networks not ready let.

In fact the onboard network chip driver works. It only lacks the ability to retrieve the MAC address, but that's a matter of days.

> Ditto for the SATA/PCI Express graphics ports.

This is wrong too. The onboard SATA, IDE & PCI Express ports work too.

The machine demoed at VCF could have been fully SATA equipped.

> Also CPU was passively cooled.

This is the case of the X1000 I have here too, but the passive heatsink only gets warm. This machine is full SATA and the graphics board is a Radeon HD in a PCIe slot (the PCI slots work too for those who'd wonder).

The CF slot also has an OS4 driver but it's not complete yet.

@Spectre660

Ouch, north of 1500 pounds is going to be somewhere between $2500-$3000. I'm assuming that will include case, graphics card, hard drive, etc. The sam460 is projected to be at most $800 (650EUR from acube's website), so after adding a case, psu and gfx it comes to about half of the X1000's price. I don't think ACube have anything to worry about
