The use of the word "affiliates" and then mentioning "AmigaOS". Perhaps I'm making too much of this, but it leaves a taste in one's mouth that somehow Hyperion and Amiga Inc. are closer than we know them to be. Correct me if you see this differently please.

I wouldn't put any stock in anything written on that site. For a start, It still seems to think that Hyperion's license was terminated in 2006, but we know that they have exclusive, worldwide license to develop AmigaOS 4+ and exclusive, worldwide license to 'The Software' etc, etc.

In addition, we have the repeated use of trademarks no longer owned by Amiga Inc, in graphics that date to before the settlement. Also, they've re-used content from, oh, I'd say about 2001 judging from the mobile telephone and PDA devices on the 'About Amiga' page.

Basically, I think that site has been dredged up to give the impression of a working company. Why? My next answer applies:

Quote:
Honestly, I have not gotten that far with looking at this, so I have no comment. I'm still stuck with the interpretation of community reaction compared with what they are currently trying to portray.

My answer is that they intend to use the community to further their own objectives, again. Tell the world (and any investors/purchasers) that the community is desperate to buy an Amiga-branded anything, making the brand look like its worth something. So when A-inc sell, through Pluritas, they get more cash than they would otherwise.

pathetic.
i hope ainc and !c=usa go bankruptcy soon.
the faster the better.
i feel bad about them putting word in our mouthes.
community ain't ecstatic or anything near happy about that.
i wish there would be a way to restore the truth.
is it possible to leave comments on their website?
we could go there in masses saying "please shutdown, go away, the community strongly dislike what you're doing: selling windows PCs branded as Amiga"
at least that's how i feel :(
very bad publicity/image for amiga..

@thread,

I made this comment in August...

I stand by it.

Squatters

This whole endeavour stinks of vapour and opportunism.
Your "products" are all rehashes of images scattered across the web.
You expect people to believe that you will produce the AMIGA fantasy case between now and end 2010!
Have you sat and looked at the costs of bespoke plastic cases? A new run of A1200 cases will start at £10-15,000 for the tooling alone.

My suspicion is that you are simply squatting on a domain name and using the community interest to drive site visits.

@T-J

I'd like A-EON to buy the Amiga IPs via Plutitas, then revoke CUSA's license.

The ONLY thing I see are 'small', short-sighted people, willing to twist, spin, rearrange,
and adjust accordingly, whatever slight truth their 'opinion' may be based on, in order to
make a buck.

We've seen the reaction of the community to this here. C= had admitted the reaction has been pathetic, and yet the press release says we've been awaiting the return of the brand.

me rereads AW to see where I've gone awry with my reading comprehension...

Nope. Seems the community is here, not elsewhere. For a moment I thought they were referring to another community. But Bill's letters always arrived on the known Amiga websites, like AW.

nothing wrong with your reading skills. just another example of the never-ending stream of fabrications from 'furniture barry' and his new friend in kent.

1)C= and AI did know there own plans to do what is indicated in the above press release. (obviously)
2)They went to community websites for support prior to issuing remarks indicating community support..in hopes of actually -having- that support prior to saying that they did.
3)When they did not receive that support, they went ahead and made that claim regardless of what they saw.

Yes, I understand this is how business works, but this might be going a bridge too far. But again, there might be some other Amiga community of which I am totally unaware.

no, that's about right. they're just lying. pure and simple. par for the course for these nutters.

my only hope is that someone other than the sticker-sticking chinese PC purveyor in florida ends up buying the trademarks outright.

Very Clever move actually.

iinm Amiga Inc has every right to call new machines "Amigas"

They don't have to call the O/s anything.

As far as Joe Public is concerned... Commodore Amiga is back.... and on x86 !!

@Tomas

Hopefully Hyperion won't be drawn into some kind of Quixotic fight over the name Amiga. Everybody needs to sit back and concentrate on building something instead of knocking down someone else's pieces.

I can't imagine Amiga Inc's name to be worth much, they've licensed away Amiga snf AmigaOS. What's left Amiga brand toasters?

My REBOL friend Henrik (HMK) posted following link on AltME. He said it was commented on here, but I can't see any mentions here. In fact, it might be some significant news, and we could start new speculation thread

So, what's Amiga Inc. and Pluritas planning? Do they want to sublicence/sell Amiga's name?

I saw this article on The Register when I got home from work. Does appear that the "Amiga" name is being sold via Pluritas.

@_Steve_

I preferred the other source I posted previous page, which has since been repeated here.
It somehow seems more authoritative.

Their plans is probably to sabotage OS4.x/hyperion/acube/aeon plans just like they have been doing for the last decade or so.
I hope someone burns that piece of #### company down soon.
