I'd argue that that's not much news.

Compared to *what* pray tell? This is Amiga-land you know.

They do, typically at Amiga shows like AmiWest.

Again, in my not so humble opinion, compared to the promises. Best one yet is "you won't have to wait till summer".

And yes, this is Amiga-land, special rules apply...

I know you're trying to balance out the negativity, but I don't think it's working. The mood and types of posts on amigans was good to see. Hope it continues soon.

as long as there is no announcements there is pretty much no news at all.

..fair enough.

lets see:
1. multiprocessor support, wait amiwest, you will see for yourself:
now everybody knows to what i boils down to.

2. tabbed shell...

3. announced work on gallium and printer drivers. now everybody assumes its being already worked on. for comparison: gallium was ported on aros by a single person involved with multiple projects in a shortest time without any big announcements.
fwik.

What promises? I haven't clue.

If you are talking about X1000, that's A-Eon's problem, not Hyperion's. Although I hear it's still summer in New Zealand...

Don't be daft. I'm talking about the fact that stuff in Amiga-land is generally on a shoe-string budget, and thus things happen slowly & often delayed. Given that, I think we've actually had a lot of big news to be happy about.

USB v2, new shell, updated gfx drivers, firefox, springs to mind. What I mean is that regarding to what has been promised in the future there is very little actual news.

I'd say Hyperion == A-Eon, but I'll give you that one.

I generally respond quite badly to being called daft in public. Also I can't recall I have ever insulted you personally. We had one little run in where I said you looked like you were pulling things out of a hat, but that was a private discussion.

Regarding the statement about shoe-string budgets and all, I'm not sure I agree. We could compare what single users have done in a short period of time on other plattforms. Well, things might change for the better now, who knows...

@kas1e

I kind of agree but what I think the real issue is when some bugs are in the OS and you have to wait 6 months for a big upgrade. In some case I wouldn't mind a small bugfix release if they find the fix sooner.

I do however find news about work being done every now and then but maybe it would be easier for everyone to find the news if it was on hyperions webpage so I agree on that being a good idea. You do need to read topics to find news sometimes and I can understand that not everybody does that since it takes time and can be boring as well if the topic isn't of interest..

I really hope that it won't lead to wild discussions and insults each and every time they release news though. Isn't that part of the reason for the Friedens going silent in the first place?

Your choice of OS doesn't matter, your behavior does. Stop baiting other users.

@zerohero

Well I can agree: Even Natami, AROS, MorphOS PR is felt better even we receieved quite good update this year. X1000 missed the year it was PROMISED to be realised, EP460 was late and with them, expectation of major OS overhaul is normal.

e.g. I don`t understand how EP460 is realised without any true knowledge are the RadeonHD drivers done. Are we still stuck with Radeon 9200?

However, with past experience, let us wait for the Hyperion and Acube boys to do their work silently. Major UBoot and PCI speed ups have been realised, some game updates, so it`s not THAT silent. And let`s see the update3 and OS 4.2 when it comes to time. I still like those light numbers: hard road to promised OS 5.0 but now we know it will be trully Amigan.

Only "sins" of Hyperion I can actually think off are Sin! and Gorky 17 that were announced for Amiga (as well as Shogo not working), but AmigaOS GFX, Printing, SMP and Timberwolf have priority. When they do that, I would like to see them updating the games and having them too on sale to boost the revenues. They do deserve it.

And don`t be so flushy with OS 4.2, from past experience, that would be paid version!

Have you seen the coverage of amiwest? The "news conference" and "interviews" were shot teribly lit on handheld crappy dv cameras with crappy audio. Also very little information. Lots of promises, nothing new SHOWN at all....

Multiprocessor support? ahaha yeah no time before mayan calender ends
FF 4? yeah right... maybe 2 years from now (but then we wil be on ff 5 and they will say "well we have to scrap our code on FF4 and go to work on FF5 so you can have the latest version)
Gallium drivers - ok sure just like the promised 3 drivers 5 years ago? I mean the whole r200 range isnt even supported yet.

Printer drivers? Yeah ok please tell me what dev is working on this I'd love to know..

In silence? hahah thats a good one. Why would ANY tech company unless they work for the government or the al queda work silently with no comms?

You people need to wake up to reality. once you do things will be much better for everyone (devs included)

USB 2.0 support is done, a new shell is done too, regarding Firefox we wait for the Mozilla Foundation, 4.0 isn't availible yet so ...
