Another kick in the nuts for real Amiga users (that's AMIGA OS1.x to 4.x on custom 68k/PPC hardware BTW)

To x86 fans; your just cheapskates, you want the Amiga name and spirit without parting with the cash, had OS4 been put on x86 (as you all ####ed and moaned about) it would probably have been pirated, torrented so ass-holes like yourselves would get your 'free' OS on your mundane common-as-crap hardware

Go to hell, all of you. You don’t support the Amiga, only yourselves. I hate the way C= USA are preparing to cash in on OUR heritage just to sell free-loading scum re-cased PC's with a chopped about *nix distro that only gives you an illusion of Amiga OS.

Workbench 5.0? What a joke! What an insult to the OS4.x devs! What an insult to every REAL Amiga user here!

Hey, if you don’t agree with me feel free to mash the report button.

@Wizzard_o

I'm not in any camp but for Hyperion/Aeon to succeed, C-USA don't need to die and vice versa.
The Amiga community is so small that either way it'll make no difference if some go in one camp or another...
Sure they see the "current" Amiga community as a target to grow faster but there's, I'm sure many old timers who will never by an X1000 or a SAM but might go for a cheap X86 box that remind them their youth, maybe more C64/Commodore freaks than Amiga ones. Those who at this date still don't have new PPC HW will not be missed since they didn't bought anything before why would they now?

Kamel

That's something they can do today with any kind of x86 box they already own:

I don't see what a complete box could add?

Uhm, yes? I still don't see the point though. Who would want that today?

@ruben

Exactly, I do have 2 C64, seeing the CG of the C64 didn't bring anything to me but once I saw the actual prototype I find it quite nice. I would have put the HW found on the Commodore 64 in joystick product to be more accurate. Adding the possibility to put a Catweasel for real retro feeling would be a big plus.
Don't remember the C64 but the Amiga need different clock than just 50hz to have smooth scroll. (loose one frame every 8 frame if not precise enough IIRC)

X86>Amiga - Time will show the difference
X86>X86 Inside!

Sorry for being sarcastic, but x86 is not a difference in this time

Depends on pricing and what games comes with it. Retro gaming is out there, C64 had it's fan base who are now middle aged and can afford a toy to indulge in their past. Perk for this is that they can hook it up to their flat screen TV or wide screen monitor. IIRC, there is a tcp/ip stack which, if setup properly, could access services for the C-64 for some nominal monthly fee. Be pretty funny if this lead to more game development for the C-64.

Some would. It has a retro/nostalgic emotional value. Why do you think people bought the new Volkswagen Beetle?

A huge number would! In the beggining as retro, later more will see...
and the price will be far under x1000....plus onto let`s add x86 compatibility.
Through time, C= will gain some money, hopefully it will be invested in the
real x86 written native based Amiga Workbench.

I agree. And I am terrified that "our dear x86 Amiga users" don`t see any insult in it.

@digitex

If true, this trademark doesn`t allow use by 3rd party (CUSA) either

I doubt... Their only way to have a rapid progress in growth and success is to
be real of the situation. They need to cash some money every day, not to
pray that this week they will sell at least 3 configurations. That is a
far way better way to go than few thousand beta testing configuration
where you don`t even know which cpu is onboard....

What do you think, does Aeon have a full functional, non bugged working mobo?
Your personal opinion?

@X86_Amigist

You are here for what ... two-tree months and you already mastered the skills
of ####ing Amigans off.

Board is functional so far, AmigaOS needs to be updated to it.

Again, this seems to be so bothering viral campaign either to promote
the beautiful few new pics on CUSA web site that will appear in the morning,
invasion of alien morons or good to way too #### real Amiga users.

So I am out of all 3 for good. Keep chanting meaningless commercials.

Where`s the insult in parallel planning ? You have your unknown CPU next gen Amiga.
And if something goes bad with electronics, you will have to cash out another million
in replacing the mobo...not to mention the waiting on the service + availability of the mobo.
In my case for instance, I go to the nearest computer store and buy the best actual
state of the art mobo for max 250 , replace it and off we go again! At least I know that there
will be the strongest sandy bridge or something stronger....

Did you get the point?

Possibly. But since it's sales will mostly come from it's emotional weight, it has an unique selling point that wouldn't place it in direct competition with current offerings. As long as they keep it within reason, they can charge a premium for this.
Since this is pretty much what Apple does, my guess is that CUSA's stuff would sell by those prices, instead of trying to reach the bottom.
