I am not sure if I should smile...or not.

On other other hand I am not sure they would be interested anymore, apparently some c0ck over at amiga.org has been saying that my designs are rubbish (even though he has never bought one), they are not professionally made and the stuff on CUSA website is the proper stuff.

Oh well, what are going to do about that, a man working in a garage VS a company with 35 million dollars back up...

@TheDaddy

Your case was the reason I got a Minimig.

Thanks Rob, can't believe some people, right now he is saying that the Minimig case has "Gaps in the cases and the edges don't line up"

Really? I never noticed that!

and

"Your cases look fine for a single person working in his garage. They do not look like cases produced by a business. They don't look professional. They look like hobby cases."

and about CUSA:

"I don't care what their budget is, the prototypes of the PC64 cases look very good. They look professional. They do not look like hobby projects..."

and

"It certainly takes more skill to produce a good reproduction (CUSA's C64) than it takes to make a plastic box with a few holes cut out of it."

Superb!

Considering that I managed to make the Minimig accept two different production of Minimig boards I must have done quite well.

I think the PC 64 will make a great gag if it's priced competitively enough. But it really has to be a place where you can get reaction from people, because that's the best part of the PC64. Putting one on a receptionists desk for example.

""Opposer lied. It was on the basis of Opposer’s false, material representations that the ‘045 Trademark was renewed by the Trademark office.""

So some company DBA cusa, bought the rights to use a name from a company(?)
that does not really own that trademark? Say WHAT?

Now then, I have the rights to a bridge in NYC, I wonder if they might be interested
in buying half interest in the roadway to put stickers on?

Naaa! that's just silly. Nevermind.

@Mechanic

A few years Jens Schoenfeld said that Amiga Inc failed to provide him with proof that they owned the name and I.P. When they were supposed to provided the relevant documentation they suddenly went quiet.

I guess Jens is a lot more demanding than than Barry Altman.

Yes, I am biased. The reason is that I am a programmer who wants to program the Amiga for a larger market. The market will never Hyperion to get (do not think they meant anything else either). Commodore other hand, will get a big market for their products. Therefore, I believe more in the concept.

So if you want to program for a bigger market, why not code for Linux? Because if you want to write software for this C-USA Amiga, that's what you'll be doing. It won't have the Amiga APIs except under emulation, and then you might as well code for WinUAE.

Which reminds me, for making it fully compatible with classic Amigas, what are they using as a ROM? The AROS ROM replacement? Or are they pirating the 3.0 ROMs?

I think we should first wait and see what comes out of this. We do not know anything fully yet. Much has been said but nothing concrete more than the C64.

If an operating system uses the Linux kernel can be built several completely different operating systems around the nucleus. All running programs may vary in different editions. I have worked on Linux for a few years ago, the problem then was that almost everyone used the operating system as a program and put in, tweaked a bit here and a little there indefinitely.
There was almost no one has produced or were interested in software to Linux.

If the Commodore will be based Workbench 5 on Linux is no problem for me. The main thing is that it looks and feels like the Amiga. In that case, I think the Commodore is a great opportunity to highlight the Amiga operating system and tone down the Linux part.

Then I might go over to the Workbench 5th

But yet we do not know if it is so!

We will wait and see!

The kernel is the OS in that was most people use to call an OS. But it is possible to use different types of GFX drivers and GUIs on it. So a Linux could get the look and feel of Amiga, Apple or could be used in a mobile phone.
You may end in a system looking like an Amiga, only if you have to install drivers, or doing system updates you will see it's still Linux.

There is nothing wrong with that. and this is nothing new but you will need developers doing the work. I have my doubt C=USA paid enough for developers.

I would not be suprised if the Workbench5 is nothingh more than a AmiWM on Linux. Or less Ubuntu with Amiga themes.

Well I'm supriesed about some people here. The right name, a shiny case and a built in UAE is needed to make them accepting it as Amiga. Maybe Hyperion, Morphos or AROS where to eager to make a new OS when something being less than a Amithlon is enough for some folks.

Ack, we weill see what is behind Workbench5 soon and I'm curious how the PC64 and the C=USA Amigas will sell.

So, unless the Ironstone claim is invalid, they can't call it C64. This might explain why it is called specifically the "Commodore 64" and not C64.

I just wish to point out that there is NO workbench5 to go to.

Since Workbench is part of AmigaOS,,, there may never be a workbench5. As you say, we'll see.

What a mess.

It would be OK if the price is OK, here is a wonderfull detail:
Expansion Slots: 2 x standard full height expansion slots (optional riser)
(This means they have slots for GFX cards or the Cateazel)

i absolutely cannot believe that, once again, 'commodore USA' lifted (and slightly modified) copy from somewhere else. i really believed they might have changed, might have become a touch more professional; the similarity in the text is a tad too much to be a coincidence. between that and yet another ####ing match with thom, well, i just don't know what to believe any more.

@CUSA

would it have been that difficult to describe your product in your own words? the C64x is something yours, something new(-ish). don't sully it with lifting copy from other sources elsewhere on your website! it makes it that more difficult for folks to give you the benefit of the doubt.
