I think the subject says it all. Are there any browsers that support shockwave and/or flash?

Thanks.

none.

ibrowse had an experimental swfdec plugin some years ago, but it won't do anything with modern flash. there is a standalone gnash player for OS4, but it's buggy and slow and not intended for end users at this stage.

Old old Voyager 3 68k & MOS used to support it, but that is outdated browser.

Java and Flash are not browser features, no matter what people believe, but external copyrighted software by Sun and Adobe that they do not intend to port to AmigaOS 4.

These two things will be the biggest probs for OS4 when they come to the "daily menu".

There were several projects to port Java to Amiga, but none bear a real usable solution.

However, HTML5 is advanced standard that works well without both, and Timberwolf supports it in alpha stage, and will in the end.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5

P.S.
Some flash contents like YouTube videos can be accesed via browser plugins and offline downloading (Basicaly there is offline Flash player for AmigaOS)

@Ned

I don't know if this will help you, but on 26 February 2011 Mike Steed released an update to his IBrowse flash plugin on Aminet. This is an interim release that fixes a bug that could cause the plugin (and subsequently IBrowse) to crash randomly when loading flash files on AmigaOS 4.x.

New for version 1.61:
---------------------

- This is an interim release that fixes a bug that caused the plugin to
crash when loading a small number of flash files under OS4. There was
no problem under OS3.

- The plugin was compiled with optimization enabled, after it was
inadvertently left off for version 1.6.

- There is no corresponding version of the standalone FlashPlayer, as it
has neither of these problems.

Aminet download: http://aminet.net/package/gfx/show/FlashPlayerPlugin

Please heed this quote from number6:
Quote:
@thread

Since it is impossible for me to determine who downloaded what and at what time, please perform a version check of your "npflashplayer.library"
It should read:
FlashPlayer Plugin 1.61 (02/25/2011)

If it does not, please download again or you will have nothing but trouble with IBrowse, as this thread well illustrates.

Also install the two libraries Number 6 lists in the following post.

@Moxee

In reference to:

There is no doubt in my mind that the prior flash plugin (PPC native) experienced what he mentions in his notes:

Quote:
- This is an interim release that fixes a bug that caused the plugin to crash when loading a small number of flash files under OS4.

When using the new plugin, which is 68k, the test link we used (referenced in the top link of this post) loaded without issue.

Hopefully the others who were testing this can confirm.

Note for OS4 users: You should have PPC versions of both guigfx.library and render.library. Do not install the 68k versions of those from the plugin archive.

If not:
guigfx.library
render.library

Are you talking about this link: http://www.usdebtclock.org ?

I'm on my (ahem) i7 right now. I'll try it tomorrow on IBrowse & OS4.

@Moxee

Yes, that was the link that brought all of us to our knees using the flash PPC plugin.
If you have that version and want to see a lovely crash, feel free to try it before replacing it with the new 68k plugin that works. heh.

Oh, and don't expect magic on that page from the new plugin. If you read the docs, you'll see that flash support is varied. The key point about this one page (the link) is simply the difference between crashing and not crashing.

A decent test page:

http://www.visualxtreme.com/flash.html

You should get both audio and video here:

http://www.visualxtreme.com/home_flash.html

Find any good ones, please post them.

Argh, IBrowse won't load up any page when I install that plug-in. IBrowse works fine otherwise except for the links with all that flash. I must have some files missing or some which shouldn't be there.

Perhaps.
As mentioned in the docs, you must delete the old flashplugin (PPC version) and replace it with the new one. The file has a different name, but that matters not. Delete the old one.

If your system is functioning properly, almost every (or every) file on this page should play correctly, including the flash game. We checked "most" of them.

You should get graphic and audio intro here:
http://www.visualxtreme.com

Plenty of demos to click on here:
http://www.visualxtreme.com/flash.html

This must be my problem. I don't have either one of these libraries installed.

Right now my A1 is frozen by IBrowse. I'll look into it tomorrow. There is a March Madness game I want to watch coming on in 5 minutes.

OK, it is the next day now and I got about 98% of those links you listed to play. A couple of them would not load and a requester appeared asking me to insert JPEGTEMP in any drive.

That http://www.usdebtclock.org page displayed that requester once also, but never once did the page load. Another time it locked up the whole system requiring a hard reboot.

At least it is a lot better than before. This is the first time I've heard sound through IBrowse.

IBrowse/settings/HTML/Images...

What is your setting for .jpeg and .png. Internal or external?

Figured.
Change both to external and then let me know if the previous issue is fixed.

Changed the settings, then after 6-7 GRs the debt clock page managed to load some of the page. The money amount windows open, but none of the figures are in them.

That part I'm not concerned about. It's the same on my Micro.
The only point to using that page was to determine if it would load without a crash. For me, sundown, Valiant, it does. That covers Micro, XE, and SAM, iirc.

^that's the part you shouldn't be seeing.

I probably have some other IBrowse setting that are different than yours, but I want to compare some notes before I offer you any further advice.

Until then, at least you've seen it working very well on those sample pages and you should have success elsewhere as well.

How about icon/information-stack. I have 524,288. Sundown has 250,000. you?

OK, then my "unfixed" XE should do the same.

Ah yes! Let me tell you I spend about an hour last night clicking on all the links of those web sites you offered and enjoying the show on IBrowse. All was going well until one of the links froze my system again. I bagged it all then and went to bed.

Still the original stack of 8192. I'll increase it to 250,000 and see what does/doesn't happen.

We have other things for you to try, so don't give up hope. heh.
The next 2 options are actually more promising, given other posts/threads.
