The only thing is.. everyone here has a different definition of what a "real Amiga" is. Be it 68k, early Commodore, late Commodore, Amiga Inc, AmigaOS, AmigaOne, Hyperion, Aros, MOS, Natami?

It sure as hell ain't something that runs Microsoft Windows. All of the above are Amiga compatibles though.

@jkirk

should be done 14-15 years ago. all of the OS will vary more and more and they should not be called flavors - all flavors share something fundamental. mentioned OSes do not, no longer (68k code? forget it). Amigaland won't be united (in the sense in which you use the term 'united') anymore (should be? why?), that's a fact.

on the contrary I won't. shady advertising practices, shady business, shady firm and now be a client and put a trust in the enterprise - no way mate.

I still don't understand the Franko double agent thing... but I'm definitely writing it into the Soap Opera script here. It's the perfect name anyway.

@tommywright

I would compare this to Scooby-Doo
I see before my eyes a scene, in which Franko took off his mask to reveal he's a squid creature (or sth similar

Looks like this franko guy had some agreement with cusa to try and increase
traffic to their website. He managed to do that by pretending to be against
cusa and (I guess) making links to their site during his negative campaign.

Now that the campaign, and his purpose, has been outed by someone he is being
hired (officially this time) out in the open to make the whole thing seem ethical
I guess.
If that's possible with his proven unethical behavior as some kind of double agent.

AGENT! Didn't Barry say he had an AGENT ?

Well, anyway, he will/is working with kindred spirits.

I wonder if there is a question on the job application similar to maybe;

How much experience do you have misleading groups of people?

Have you ever been caught in a lie?

Are you an ethical person?

Is everything you put on this application the truth?

Meh! - None of it matters anyway. I'm sure he is not pulling a con-job on Barry...........

Seeing as this is the thread for it and it is at the top of the front page.

Commodore USA Facility Video

We are almost finished with our initial pre-order production run of the new C64 which begins shipping next week. We thank you for your patience.

To me this whole "Franko" thing is the final nail in the coffin for CUSA and proves one of two things:

A) The entire "BarryDore" thing is a giant hoax (I'm honestly leaning more towards this). It always seemed too odd that they just came out of nowhere, apparently got the Commodore brand (maybe not too hard) and then Amiga with ease, and licenced it from McBill, when others in the community have been trying to reach him for years and never received replies, yet this unknown bunch come along and are able to instantly get branding rights. The faked photos, highly unprofessional behaviour of their CEO etc all looks too suspicious. Lot of generic "production line" photos, but no demos of the product anywhere (videos etc.)

Maybe it's for the good of the Amiga, as it proves nobody cares about the IP anymore so they've managed to get away with using it unchallenged for the last 6 months.

B) These guys are total amateurs. After the recent faked photos fiasco, proving once again to the world that they are a bunch of liars with the Franko stunt was the most bizarre piece of marketing I've ever seen. At a time when they desperately needed to instil some trust in the company, they reveal yet another lie and massive trolling attempt.

Either way, I wouldn't be handing over my money to this lot.

Ooooh... Nice video...

PS: Good job nobody noticed that music has been erm... "borrowed" from the game "Crazy Sue Goes On", otherwise the copyright mafia might jump on it...

@danwood

Of all the bizarre things to happen around here over the years this is just makes everything else look normal.

Even stranger this all has ZERO to do with anything Amiga. It's so random why this Barry (Berry?) guy is hooked on the Amiga scene. Another Bill Buck? Some guy hugely infatuated by the name "Amiga" for some reason?

So many good people getting pulled in? Red, and others? After he stole peoples photos and that #### website. Fake and insane sales numbers? I don't know how people fall for this stuff time and time again. I'm not saying they aren't real C64x system. Sure they might sell 1000 units. Maybe 2000. You think after all costs, taxes, fees, etc CUSA will be even left with $60,000 at the end of the year? That wont even cover the cost of 1 full time employee.

Even more strange I never even saw Franko post much about CUSA. I saw his Commodore Scotland banner of course, but really only saw him talked about how the Workbench disks should be available for download for real hardware, which I agree with. Never saw him really post about CUSA one way or the other though, other then the joke Scotland thing like I said.

I don't really see how he created advertising one way or the other for CUSA. Put then I never really followed his posts or anything.
