@DiscreetFX

now that we've all enjoyed (or something) the recent kerfluffle over amiga.org ownership, i think one thing that might help repair relations with the part of the community unhappy over the event might be some much needed news on where aladdin v6.0 development currently sits.

do you have anything you can share at this point regarding aladdin v6.0 availability, changed/new features, and/or the status of folks who pre-ordered their copies?

additionally could you share your views on how 'project metropolis' has progressed since its unveiling? looks like photogenics has been for sale via this venue now for a while. is this the first of several third-parties selling their wares, or have things been on the backburner for a while?

edit (22/7): re-requested status update (link).

anything you/they can provide in the way of news will really be helpful to the community, customers, and potential customers. furniture aside, this is really what we're looking for from our friends in chicago.

Funny how adding "inc." or "labs" make people think they will appear as a serious/big company with several employees...

@Leo

i doubt that was his intention. he's referring to the developer. they've been around long enough that we all know that.

"...Design" can also serve the same goal

Funny how when there are not so much news some of us tend to search for a whipping boy and start bashing him.

I don't know anything about the A.org story (I don't like this website, and I'm not interested in anything about it) but why don't you all of you relax we won't take anyone to court just for for a bad joke... would you ?

I don't know Bill personally but I'm almost sure he's not a bad guy. I'm almost sure he felt bad about the A.org situation and tried to express this in a bad way.

Intention or not, it's more than funny that he first needs to contact the "DiscreetFX Labs" before he can answer such a question. What impression does that convey? Either that he wants to make themself bigger than they really are (I doubt they even have a single fully employed developer for the Amiga-side) or that he doesn't have any idea of the development status of their own products.

Very possible that there is just no any kind of amiga-development of any new version of aladdin (because if so, screenshots can be showns years ago). I think, that they trying to keep feel that they still works on something, and by that crap + news-about-nothing (immediately release) sold one-two more copy of old crappy aladdin 4. Everything just looks like this.

And after all their "activity" in last 2 years, all what can i say: they absolutly non professionals, non serius and dunno why admins of any forums, still aprove their "newses". Maybe because someone want to think that there is still some "serius developing on amiga site by 3d party companies" ? But its clear that there is none today.

if they are still the same people they made some serious work on amiga, even though only few lightwave plugins come to mind ive never had a chance to use. it wasnt exactly a big enterprise i think but they did something. funny how it seems a rule in this scene, when serious entities scale down/degrade to a caricatures of themselves while pretending to carry on as usual.

It's not who you are but what kind of image you have.

2 years ago ! And exactly _the same_ style of selling of old copies by making everyone think that there is ongoing (and almost done, just 2 more weeks) work on aladdin6 :) How it possible that there is still any amiga users who can't see the reality .. (i remember just when i some time ago start to bashing their "metropolis" crap, someone call me a troll, when i point out how unprofessional everything done. And some users say "thanks" for that, while it was very-very-very-very clear that they just trying to sold out again aladin4 copy).

No no, to make such decissions about jokes, i think DiscretFX Inc/Co/R/TM firstly contact with DiscretFx Labs Humour Department , then DiscreFX Labs Humour Deparment contact with DiscretFX Labs Control of Humour Department, they also contact (immediately of course, Chicago/Illinoise) with that man from video which post Ressle in other topic, then he aprove the jokes (of course, with Press Release and Immediately contact with his Manager Of PR Tm/C/Inc/Co/Labs), and only after all of this, its all back, and then, all these monster corporations with big letter "C", give us their unbelivable stuff.

But, in reality, what i can't understand, its why (just why) they making all the current amiga users as fools, and trying not to make that hobby interesting and without those mind-less persons, but just to make all of this looks as much worse as possilbe, with classic foolish stuff. To make looks all that "about amiga" users looks stoopid for the whole world. What the point ?

Why they still post all of this, if they have nothing ? Why admins allow those posts ? Imho better have total silence in compare with all that hardly annoing "immediateli chicago illinoise stuff". Or its only me think like this ?

@thread

guys, i know folks are a bit 'down' on @DiscreetFX at the moment, but this thread currently is about an update from them. it was not intended as a 'bash bill' thread. i'm hoping they can shed some light on where aladdin 4D v6.0 is at this point. given the level of attention and anger, obviously there is interest, right? i've got no problem with criticism from customers and interested parties, but could we start another thread if we're going to just slam folks mercilessly?

please?
