aladdin6.0 is having meeting with os4.x usb2 drivers deep in the woods. they are drinking vodka and are alright. dont expect them to come out any soon.

guys, i know folks are a bit 'down' on @DiscreetFX at the moment, but this thread currently is about an update from them. it was not intended as a 'bash bill' thread. i'm hoping they can shed some light on where aladdin 4D v6.0 is at this point. given the level of attention and anger, obviously there is interest, right? i've got no problem with criticism from customers and interested parties, but could we start another thread if we're going to just slam folks mercilessly?

If they can't publish even SINGLE screenshot in three years I think it's quite obvious that kas1e's point is right...

@wawa

and that exactly is a problem that is under research by discreet labs who have to design a special tool to retrieve lost things from the forest. currently thery are at betatesting a special machine who already can do All Things beginning with character N. unfrortunately aladdin begins with "A"..

That was bit unfair to say about USB2 drivers. People have seen em.

it has been told that aladdin and the usb drivers have seen aros68k wandering around in the dark, but aros has not answer any calls and disappeared again. now is considered missing too. has not seem to be drunk though.

edit: maybe aros was just afraid to get included into update 3 if it came too close.

edit2: ah, besides, i have seen aladdin too: not difficult: you just have to rub your lamp.

@ thread

While the last couple of posts have me smiling, I must defend the author of this thread to get back on the topic of Aladdin and metropolis and stop taking this thread into another direction.

I'd agree with you, but then we'd both be wrong.

@Moxee

sure, the only problem seems to be discreetfx has apparently not been succesful in contacting discreet labs, otherwise we would have a founded answer by now, i think, and wouldnt have to make assumptions like the above. but i will shut up and wait. hopefully this isnt a kind of post that lets the thread to be dug out after another couple of years.

For the Immediate Deceased:

We have had a series of conversations by carrier pigeon with Discrete Labs (not to be confused with Discreet Labs - these are very much a separate entity!)

Work is progressing nicely on the new Aladdin 6.x UI. DPaint images will follow shortly as well as a quiz.

Ah, they use RFC1149 for their communication.

@thread

once again i ask posters to refrain from bashing persons herein. if you want to 'rag' on discreetFX, by all means, go nuts.... just please open another thread for that purpose. thank you.

@DiscreetFX

any news from 'the labs' yet? anything? i hesitate to do this, but perhaps it might help. in the immortal words of judge smails:

well? we're waiting!

@eliyahu

I'm working hard to get a realistic status update for you. I want it done more than anyone and unlike everyone else have put thousands into this very long project.

@DiscreetFX

understood. thanks for the quick reply. i take it from your post that the aladdin 4D work, then, is being undertaken by contractors? is discreetFX is regular communication with the developer(s)?

I guess he wouldn't have to "work hard to get a realistic status update" if this was the case... What a joke...

@Leo

the hypothesis about drunkyards in the forest becomes even more likely then, as getting realistic status updates and keeping regular communication is very hard under such circumstances.

@NutsAboutAmiga

You question is irrelevant. DiscreetFX.com is run on a Linux server and admined from a Mac OS X system. No way it could even get a Windows virus infection.

@DiscreetFX

Its a JavaScript virus that embeds it self in the web pages of web servers.
It is a very powerful kit with a number of recent exploits including Java and Adobe PDF exploits.

http://research.zscaler.com/2011/02/blackhole-exploits-kit-attack-growing.html

Even Linux boxes does get viruses, and they are easy targets as Linux users don't run virus protection.

A common way to attack is to repack open source software whit maleware inside.
Host it on site whit high raking on google, so its the first thing you find and download.

Most software on linux does require it to be installed whit sudo or su (root user).
