@DiscreetFX

to say it clearly you misuses your administration rights and act against everything the web stands for. There will be protests and it will have consequences for sure. And you make yourself completely to a idiot. I have nothing else to say...

While you're still motivated, could you please take down Amiga.com.
Thanks.

I'm glad I was called about this right away. Thank you Skinny Robbie! I totally agree this this is totally unacceptable! I have asked Tedd to turn the site back on. This does not involve Amiga.org in any way. I don't want anyone else to suffer on top of the suffering I have already went through over this. I'm deeply sorry this was out in the open like this. I wish it could be solved the proper way!

- Bill

+ 1. i understand your frustration please reconsider Bill as I cannot possibly see how closing the longest living Amiga site down will help the situation

I think it was about 40 minutes but in Amiga land that's and eternity it appears

With all the blame being thrown around (to/from) DiscreetFX, including the long-running problems mentioned on Amiga.org that many people have had with DiscreetFX, I'm having a hard time giving DiscreetFX (the company) the benefit of the doubt any longer.

DiscreetFX seem to want to be treated as a company, but whenever anything goes wrong, the management (Bill & Ted?) always blame someone else, e.g. "accounting", e.g. "shipping intern", e.g. their contractor. That raises warning flags for me.

And problems can go on for months or even years without them apparently escalating the seriousness of the problem, such that it never really gets dealt with. That raises huge warning flags for me.

At this point I can only say that I would have a hard time trusting DiscreetFX (the company). Either their (very few) staff are incompetant at their jobs, or their company is so poorly structured (communication, resources, clearly-assigned-responsibilities, etc) that their staff are unable to do their jobs properly. The only people to blame for such deeply rooted problems are those running the company (Bill & Ted?).

I also recall there being lots of other instances where DiscreetFX has run some ill-conceived promotions (e.g. selling Alladin v5 on the promise of v6), or otherwise failing to live up to their promises (e.g. contest prizes that were never received). They shouldn't be making big promises, if they are not sure whether or not they can live-up to them.

I hate to criticise one of the few Amiga companies left, but at this point it seems that DiscreetFX may be doing more harm than good (at least in perception, and perceptions are important). Even if we assume they have good intentions, you need more than good intentions to run a company that keeps your customers happy.

I disagree, but please don't change the topic. I hope you aren't trying to derail the discussion?

BTW, at the moment you seem to be an apologist for DiscreetFX (often coming-up with completely unsubstantated alternative explanations). Any particular reason for that?

My response:

@Tedd

We have an exhibitor who is his "rep" attending AmiWest who's going to be in an uncomfortable position now, and others have been dragged into this for another reason.

I just want it resolved, as you do.

Selective reading Chris?
