If such person has interest to MorphOS then why not buy PowerBook? Run AmigaOS 4 on Samantha and MorphOS on PowerBook. If you had MorphOS on SAM460 you wouldnt get portable, would you?

But my point is, if it *did* run on Sams (say someone could wave a magic wand) then a lot of AmigaOS users wouldn't even need to buy a PowerBook. They could just get the OS and try it on the Sams they already had.

If they fell in love with it, then I'm sure they *would* hunt down a PowerBook so they could take it on the train too but being able to run something on your existing hardware is real incentive to try something.

For what it's worth, I don't take computers out and about with me (that's my sitting and thinking time) but I like laptops 'cos I can use them in bed.

I can see where you are coming from but there arent enough Samantha users to justify "luring" them to MorphOS world with MorphOS.

Instead I let cheap PowerBooks lure Samantha users to world of MorphOS =P

I'm sure considering the Morphos teams reputation for delivery that when Morphos 3.0 comes out with Powerbook support wifi will be supported. Its waiting for these drivers to be finished that is taking so long as they have had morphos running on PB for some time now. longer than a year at least! As a matter of fact if you search mz you can see some devs and users discussing this and Pega1 (Cybergfx Frank) was pretty adamant about releasing a full featured port. (there is alot to support - new gfx drivers, touchpad support in full, wlan, etc)

Good point. It would make zero sense for Morphos team to spend any time porting the os to yet another platform. This is the mistake Hyperion have been making for the past few years, as it throttles OS development when you have to code new drivers for new platforms all the time.. (*and in the case of X1000 you see how long this takes, its not easy)

Besides, there are so many rabid anti morphos people in the Sam user base it really makes no sense. Although its quite interesting how still people bash Morphos even though some members of the dev team have helped OS4 efforts! (And dont see much the other way except maybe Davey Wentzler)

Although one MorphOS developer has been seen with a working wireless NIC PCMCIA card in his G4 PowerBook, I doubt that including it in the 3.0 release of MorphOS is definite.

It was clearly stated earlier that having wireless Internet connectivity would NOT be a requirement for releasing a version of MorphOS that supports the G4 PowerBook.

That statement may have been changed by the MorphOS Dev. Team, and I certainly hope that the first release of MorphOS for the G4 PowerBook will have wireless connectivity, but I am not holding my breath, or betting on that being true.

Support for 1.4 was dropped long ago. We cannot distribute the non-Amiga builds using the old production isos and nobody is going to waste time preparing new ones. The gap between 1.xand 2.7 is too huge for this to make sense.

If I remember correctly pega 1 said he wouldnt want PB support to come out without wifi drivers.. (also 3d drivers as well afaik and i'm sure they have r300 working pretty beta by now)

I hear that a lot "not enough Sam users, while ask yourself: how many macs out there?" but I believe it's quite a wrong assumption as ALL Sam users are interested in anything Amiga while mac users like that, can't wait to sell their used stuff to current MOS users which will upgrade to newer systems without generating new blood (or just a few).
A ssytem that runs all amigoid OSs is appealing and with MOS on Sam I bet you a six pack that between 440Eps, 440Flex and 460EX you would get at least 500 new users in a short time
