@NutsAboutAmiga

but is there any native os4 demo? because for wos and 68k demos even if gfx and ahi you will still have to use emulation which i think was your intention to avoid. even with jit there will likely still be some overhead which would let appear such kind of a demo to be comperatively slower to a native one, thus putting the hardware in disadvantageous light. this especially includes warp3d demos that would need to refer to wazp3d software rendering. i dont think these are fair benchmarks.

we had many threads about benchmarks while last two years some of which would be quite objective i think. sorry ive no time to search now. but surely people here remember.

@wawa

There are some demos for AmigaOS4.

I was thinking about not using UAE,

.1. because interpreted code is slow but maybe not on X1000
.2. OCS/AGA demos use 320x200 or 640x480 pixels so its low res.

68k and WarpUP programs that run under OS4 whit out UAE runs many times faster and often support native screen modes and AHI, Petunia the OS4 JIT compiler helps a lot on speed of 68k programs, you most remember that this old demos where made for 50mhz to 233mhz, comapred to 1Ghz or 1.8Ghz that nothing.

So do we have any information about when the next batch of X1000 will come out for sale?

@ddni

Well amigakit already stated they would find another production run. Besides the first batch sold out in two days with demand like that I'm sure there would b another run.

@All

Well here we are! X1000 up and running. It's fast... very quick in the OS. Lots to look through and learn so I will update you with more info later and try to get a review up at some point.

Very slick system from the X1000 branded bios screen all the way through to boot.

Love Origyn Web browser - already enabling me to use my Amiga for work which is cool.

Going to download a few bits and pieces now and see how we go. Will try to get some benchmarks up soon.

The best thing right now is that I feel like I'm home. It will be about 17 years since I last used my A4000/060 and this is bringing all the good feelings back along with all the modern elements you expect in an OS.

Well its rather boring, but I just released a small tool on OS4Depot its called - GetPixel - sounds interesting huh? Not lol.. Anyway its sat in the upload queue. This is more of a quick plug than anything else seen as though I spent so long writing it (less than an hour), its quite a mundane tool that has its uses - I hope someone who works with graphics a lot might find it useful for something.

I might integrate it into Jack as yet another shortcut key, but for now its just a little tool I created for the hell of it.

Apart from that I would definitely install Jack... but I guess I would say that. ^.^

Already installed! Just used it to get Timberwolf. Jack has quite a lot too it - must have taken you some time to code. I really like the Amiga App Store - a great idea.

Make sure you register on the Hyperion forum web site. If you find any bugs or have problems, report them there. Beta testers have been told to ignore anything thats not reported in the new x1000 forum. The reason is quite simple, all problems with the first public release will be in one single forum for tracking & bug fixes.

Thats not to say all beta testers will follow orders & not note any bugs reported here, but you may not get the attention you deserve.

It will also cut down on the "noise" some like, & will, create here, think you know what I mean.

Took about 9 months or so... on-going project really. Thanks, I am glad you like it. :)

Don't forget to sign up to the 'App-store' as well - when you are signed up you can rate software by simply giving software star ratings. Helps new users.

*hint hint to everyone*

@-Sam-

Thanks.
Currently:
MIPS: between SAM 460 and Peg2 with one core
L1: Champion, better then A1X1 G4
RAM: Massive win over all! SUPERIOR!
Video bus: Currently poorest performance, better then SAM 440

A lot of room to improve, but CACHE and RAM results are great!

It doesn't seem slow in use though. Just uploaded the video benchmarks and they are low - but I know nothing about how to tweak the driver so perhaps I am missing something.

@-Sam-

Are you sure the program is right? The MIPS value must be wrong. It's way to low, the PA6T should yield 2.2 MIPS/MHz per core - i.e. about 3960MIPS (for comaprison: my mini's 7447A/1500 yields 3450MIPS).

The read video bus data must also be wrong.

But the RAM values are pretty impressive!

No you're not, the s/w drivers are not optimized yet.
