Thanks for the videos. I wonder if you need to file the claim with FedEX, not AmigaKit? You should check, as I am sure there is a time limit on how soon you need to file the claim after delivery.
I would file a claim AND check with AmigaKit to ask them to file the same claim on their end.
Can't wait to get mine next week.
I thought about it today and figure that there might be more X1000 owners in a week or two (if there aren't already) than there are SAM460ex owners. If you count the 105 beta-testers plus the buyers of the First Contact production run of X1000's, it is probably more than the number of SAM460ex's that have sold to AmigaOS4.x users (embedded industrial buyers don't count). _________________ Amiga! Congratulations with your new machine, it's a real beauty!.
I love watching your videos because you speak loud and clear and tell us all the little details.
Oh and it doesn't hurt your acting like a little child who just opened a christmas present for the first time
But yeah you need to figure out the lightning thing.
Again...CONGRATULATIONS MAN!

I think my issue is all fluorescent lights. Makes pics look green and they are just not bright like old bulbs.
I need one of the white shield deals with light attachments to throw light at my systems. Just don't want to spend the money on it I guess.

I think the shipper since they have the original shipping info and paperwork has to start the claim? Awaiting AmigaKit word before I go too crazy.

Thanks for the vids. Nice studio there. That NeXt cube is awesome! And the monitor holy smokes! Now with the x1000 you are 3ll3t
The finish of the front of the case is absolutely gorgeous. The ding on that panel is no big deal, just replace the panel. You can even try an auto dent puller, though that one looks deep, its like they hit it with a hammer!
Anway, congratulations on your new machine. Very impressive.
BTW the reason you are losing your black information in that vid is because you are shooting into the light. Next time, put something over that glass door. Or shoot with your back to the glass.. thank you for the vidz Last edited by realize on 03-Feb-2012 at 07:58 AM.

I hate having to say this but you must put the x1000 back in the box and fix the lighting then film the unpacking again
I hope the FedEX fine print doesn't say that you have to inspect the package in front of the delivery guy to file a claim.
The metal on the R3 case seems very soft, I saw another x1000 with a significant dent on the bottom edge after shipping. Luckily it was just as easy to bend it back.

A funny thing is I was able to use iMovie to lighten the video up. Without it, the video was real dark. But now some of it is washed out but at least you could see it.
I have much to learn about making videos for sure. Just too busy with work so this novice video is the best I can offer for now.

| Cool videos. When I saw that ding in the case I thought "damn" considering how well Amigakit had packed it. Carriers have a reputation for treating parcels like footballs, especially when they have fragile stickers on them.
I guess some foam/polystyrene around the sides of the case may have stopped that but how far do you go, book it on a as a passenger on a plane with the name Joe Pillow?! lol
I am sure it will get sorted in any case. Amiga's Power! _________________ Amiga A1200, 3.1 ROMs, Blizzard 1230 MKIV 64MB & FPU, 4GB DoM SSD, Workbench 3.1 |

Congratulations on your shiny new X1K.
Sorry to see the damage to the case. That simply isn't anywhere near good enough packaging by AmigaKit. For international shipping, the case box should be inside another box with plenty of packing. I'd expect other overseas customers will find the same with their X1K's. AmigaKit had better have plenty of spare Fractal case parts! |

AFAIAA AmigaKit do double box the packages. That is how my AmigaONE X1000 was shipped to New Zealand and I'm sure that is AmigaKIt's standared method.

I do not share your opinion. This damage was caused by a puncture, which is very difficult to protect against.
The X1000 tower was plastic shrink wrapped, then packed in the fractal box and then was packed in another thick cardboard box and then finally plastic shrink wrapped again. I think a double box with shrink wrap should be sufficient.
We have sent many X1000 cases with this packaging all over the world and not had any previous reports of damage from our customers.
Suffice to say, we are in the process of resolving this issue. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS |

| Unfortunately, double boxing with foam insertsis a fully industrial distribution method, that was settled on when used with bulk palleted and contanerised supply. That is, the only handlign methods used are by crane on the steel shipping container, and by forklift or pallet truck between delivery vehicle and store room.
As such its a very acceptable method.
The problem comes with induvidual items, because people are so used to seeing cardboard boxes.
How much would a proper packing case be, several inches lager all round than the supply box, of at least quarter inch plywood, relative to teh cost of the item within? I accept that the item is expensive, but would a plywood crate be ten percent, or for those who really wanted to make sure, how much would a full checkerplate aluminum shipping crate cost as an example, material, buildup, shipping etc?
Even the Zalman 55A (?) totally silent air cooled studio case was only £500?
Simple slab should be far cheaper?
Do they charge for weight in given sizes, and diferent bands for diferent sizes? If so, how much foam can be used within a give size, price band?
Sorry, I tend to overdo things. 8(
Depends on how it was airshipped, it might have been footballed into the first passenger hold available, then footballed out the other side, they throw stuff round for speed, a big box like that, they dont bother catching, they wait for it to stop bouncing first. Health and Safety.

| Well, a puncture like that can easily be caused by a forklift, so even if you were shipping a whole pallet of X1000s, there's still very little you can do to protect the outside ones from punctures like that. It happens all the time, and can happen anywhere - on/off the truck and plane, airport freight terminals, whatever. A big shame really, but I'm sure it'll be sorted - I've found couriers to be quite good at resolving these issues - if a little slow... _________________ RobTheNerd.com | InstallerGen | SMBMounter | Atoms-X |
