Incredibly, another version appears to have materialised on my hard disk.

http://www.mutant-caterpillar.co.uk/ian_stuff/AmiTV_20120209_NTSC.lha

As the more perceptive among you may notice, this is an NTSC build! As before, it supports all bt848/bt878/cx2388x chipsets.

Please send feedback to me... not had any so far on the PAL build at all, so seems like not many people have the cards needed...

Would it be possible to do a special "riser" card for 3.3v SAMs to enable 5v cards?

@Spirantho

Thank you so much. You are an Amiga Uber Hero! Keep up your work. Here is my peg2 with ATI TV Wonder VE card and bttx 8x8 chipset (PHillips tuner)

This is showing composite output of my A1200 running everyone's favorite Secret of Monkey Island Sorry for the bad cam shots but screengrabbers cant grab the overlay video.. thank you again Spirantho!

Wish list for OS4 AmiTV:

1. A nice gui with input and channel selection and nice textures and buttons

2. A cool icon

3. Tuner support

Great stuff! You can also try using direct mode overlay as you're on a peg 2. Also don't forget you can resize the window as you like and you may even find Full Screen mode works.

If there is a list of working cards, we can add yours. :)

@Spirantho

Cool. It would be nice if there was a cool gui with a modern os4 look to it and cool buttons, so you could turn off/on overlay, fullscreen toggle, etc..

Also there was no docs in the archive?

@Spirantho

Suppose a port to Aros may be on the cards on that nice Aros hardware you have.

Usual big donation if you can

Monkey island rules!, i still play all 3 of em in ScummVM (the 2 new'r ones (4 and 5) are ok but not kick ass good).

i know a lot will disagree with me but i prefer COMI (monkey island 3) and think its one of the best adv's ever made.

i'll hook up my tv card today and try myself!, the older amitv did work but was glitchy etc.

was it fiddly to set up or?

Yeah Monkey is fun, i've actually never finished Monkey1, I was playing it thru for a while there, but i'm stuck on Lechuck's ship and I told myself i wouldnt look online for help (only "cheated" twice when stuck)

I'd love to play the newer monkey island games with Scumm on os4.. does the speech and music work?

As far as AmiTv really simple to use (even though no help or read me lol) there were only 3 files in the archive. The amitv executable, and two libraries for the 2 supported chipsets. I installed the libs in libs: and ran the exec :P Simple as pie.. oh wait at first it loads up the wrong input and i clicked the widown that said next input and it found the composite. (i'd like to see a full featured gui )

Yeah, cheating in games is boring, especially monkey island series as those are so worth it being stuck so u try all those odd combinations etc and get to see all the dialogue and art while doing it.

Yeah ScummVM is uptodate and continuesly supported by Raziel, there even is 68k RTG and AGA versions for Classic os3.x too.
Amigakit used to sell the games and budled a Amiga Cd with the package, the seperate CD had ScummVM on it :)

Pretty sure ScummVM is available on pretty much every Amiga compatible format

Sounds a lot like how it was 6-7 years ago then :) , lets hope someone opts to do a gui
Thanks for the heads up, i'll give it a whirl asap.

@Toaks

It's the same program as it was before, just ... modified. :)

I'm very busy at the moment, and to be honest had given up on AmiTV because I couldn't get it to work reliably enough. However, after playing around on my Peg 2 it seems it's better than I remembered it... and I hate leaving projects unfinished. :)

As for whether it gets a nice GUI that really depends on how many people use it. So far the number appears to be 2: me and Realize!

If I stays stable enough I'll try and make it more user-friendly... but at the moment it's still really a test program.

@Stephen
It should work fairly easily on AROS but I don't really have time at the moment I'm afraid. I'll bear it in mind though. And of course if you want the source I'll send it to you (need to get the other source to you.. will try today...!) in case it's useful!

@Spirantho

Btw I was messing around leaving it running and launching apps and things. it was suprisingly stable. However, there seems to be a bug with closing workbench windows. It froze the whole box on me a couple of times just closing windows..

Otherwise it looks pretty good, at times there are slight visual glitches but overall nice.

Maybe we should raise a small bounty for a nice gui and tuner support

you know what would be cool is if it had a gui that was complaint to the cool DV Player style.. maybe cobra could integrate the tv app? I dont know, just trying to tie things together as it looks good for the platform.

Its time for America to become normal country and accept PAL, metric system, kilograms, normal shue sizes, normal grading system 1-10, 24 hour day time, celsiuses and other civ achievements Off course Europe suffer from sooo many small nations and languages ...

You can add Oil.. or as they call it "Gas" to that list as well

Over there its a dirt cheap commodity, in Europe its becoming a luxury item.

I'd love to see what would happen if the americans suddenly had to pay $2 A LITRE like everyone else.
