@terminills

I don't know... Everyone can decide for himself...

I mean everyone has his one opinion

But if someone is insulting me, I just ignore him. It's the easiest way.

And as a OS Developer you are in a diffrent position like a consumer.

The OS Core developer are representing a product - don't you think?

@terminills

Well, that's the right way - in my opinion.

So, sometimes conversations are emotional and insulting.

But a professional way to have a good conversation is to ignore insults and talking about Timberwolf and its development... Nothing more.

Stick the title OS4 Core Developer under your avatar and you can curse, swear, tell people to bugger off, insult them and basically say whatever you want...

They're basically allowed to get away with murder. I've seen much worse, direct personal attacks and the worst that ever happens is the post will get removed.

Well. I don't have to loose nothing...

But if I have enough I can leave the community at any point I want to.

But I don't give up that fast. I mean, I did nothing wrong, right?

Sure, if we would open up the source code it would make it EASIER for you, but not opening up the source code does not make it HARDER.

And probably that is the core of our difference in opinion. To me open source is about 'share early, share often' and reducing the workload for everybody by sharing one's code.
My code I produce, including all mistakes I make etc. is public on the AROS subversion repository or in some branches on my gitorious account. Don't mind if somebody comes out to use it against me and probably there is reason enough to do that.

I have also to admit that my opinion is probably tainted by passed experiences I had with open source errors made in OS4 to easily get it. I still remember through what hoops I had to go through to get the source code of the amipdf program. This program is GPL though so the source code should be distributed with OS4 or at least an offer should accompanying OS4. I have a A1G3SE machine with OS4 so I am entitled to the source code of this GPL program.
In the email exchange over this I did not get the feeling the OS4 dev. team was very open source and would in the future be more active in publishing the GPL code used in OS4. Don't have OS4.1 so don't know how it is handled there.
And maybe this perception is partly (wrongly?) shining on you guys as I consider you an important part of the OS4 camp.

Although I don't agree with all design choices you guys have made (.so objects to name one) and I don't agree with the way you handle the firefox source code this does not mean I can't respect what you guys are doing. Trust me, I really do respect the hard time and effort you guys put into your work.
I can only hope you guys also respect my work I am doing for AROS even if you don't give a damn about AROS as you say.

It's true you guys tried to do the right thing with adtools, I still have it checked out overhere and update it from time to time. It may be that we'll meet each other there in the future, unfortunately without any promise. (First I have to do so many other things before that, like implementing memory protection in AROS )

If you mean serious, we can talk.

Unfortunately I am already spread too thin but I hope this offer doesn't expire. If I do it, it will probably not be related to Firefox but about gcc and amiga dev environments. I'm more doing low-level and dev. environment stuff ATM, not user programs.

greets,
Staf.

@Fats

If you don't like it htat they won't release all codes. Maybe you should complain to the firefox team. As they made the rules.

Well, you are absolutely right.

And I don't understand, why the OS 4 core developers are answering this way.

My opinion is: just answer the questions related to the topic...

...and my last posts where only about that.

It was just a proposal to come back to topic.

I really don't know, what I did wrong.

This is just weird...

Amigaland certainly is a strange place far removed from the real world...

Dunno why it's like that perhaps' some people don't actually venture out into the real world much once they've settled in Amigaland but one things for sure some have a very strange view on the world and life in general...

Looks like if you develop, code or do anything for the Amiga (no matter how tenuous the connection is), you are worshipped like a gawd by some and you begin to act like one...

Which of course then leaves the worshippers getting their knickers in a twist when some dare question their gawds or say's something that isn't 100% fawning and they freak out saying things like "oh no if you talk to them like that we will lose our precious developers AKA Gawds" and "our gawds shouldn't be taking time out to post on forums they should be working every waking hour developing stuff for us"....

Newsflash... reality check... wake up call...

The real world and the people in it don't behave or work like that...

Developers are human too (I think) and as such have a real life (I hope), they are not some mystical beings with the power to do everything. Gawd forbid if they spend some of their time chatting on a forum or actually doing something else and not spending every waking minute & second developing stuff for others who obviously don't have the ability to do so themselves...

What strange, very strange views some people have on life in Amigaland...

Often wonder if since I went online and discovered these forums if they are actually real and not some crazy mind control experiment set up by secret government agencies, set up to make anyone unsuspecting who happens across them to read all this strange behaviour and drive em nuts. Then they can be clinically certified and the men in white coats can cart them off to secret labs for experimentation in covert operations in collaboration with the "greys"...

Which is more crazy that last bit or the belief by some that Amiga developers are gawds worshipped by those who follow the mantra "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil" ???

Think I'll stick to the real world and Albert me pet talking squirrel, far more safe and normal than some of things said in these places...

Obviously not true, but you would have to read profiles before posting in order to know that.
