Like what exactly? The only thing that has been modified are the scripts. If you have the COS-V, you have those scripts already. Nothing of the binaries have been modified so you are free to download the source code from multiple locations on the net. |
Forgot so much development was invested in COS "Vision" that its just scripts, bundle, backgrounds. Would not dare to call it anywhere near new OS.
But there is no reference to its source anywhere within the OS / documentation / "support page" (sources downloadable ...). Its not even openly avail download beyond Beta 6, no FTP download at all.
Its kind of emulation its propitiatory OS while in fact it should be free and open.
That should be much more inspiration to your fire, then Timberwolf that is by bounty licence not completely open as far as it is developed. And is not even yet finished port.
Make one fair criteria, and apply to all._________________ Future Acube and MOS supporter, fi di good, nothing fi di unprofessionals. Learn it harder way! |

I really have no idea on what you are going on about and this is getting way off topic. Feel free to make another thread with exact packages you feel C=USA is violating on a specific license agreement.

I'll go back on topic.
Just used the new Timberwolf for the last couple of days and I have to say it is a stunning acheivment. Not sure what the changes are from this to the PC Firefox 10 but in use it appears exactly the same. A very impressive piece of software and essential for the Amiga.
Excellent stability and speed. My main browser. _________________ Sam |

Wow... never realised that just changing a script means you can call something an entirely new OS and pass it on as such...
That means after 26 years of using the Amiga and modifying the StartUp-Sequence & User-Startup , Oh I dunno but would guess at least 300 maybe 400 times that I should in fact be able to call it, Commodore OS 300.x and not Commodore OS 3.0, 3.1, 3.5 or 4.0 ...
Does that mean I'm free to distribute it too all over the net and claim it to be a completely new OS that has had tons of work/ development put into it... _________________

I have no idea what you are referring to, but I have a feeling it's off topic. _________________ Dammy |

| My first post via Timberwolf beta.
Terribly slow on SAM440ep & 667Mhz & M9. So, where are the tricks to make this fly?
btw. first time ever I can access Lacie network drive admin interface via Amiga browser!

Some reported the plugin "FasterFox" might help a littlebit. The best choice is to play with it (aka: no every day use), report bugs to the Friedens and wait for a full hw accelerated version. Last edited by cha05e90 on 15-Mar-2012 at 09:55 AM.

I don't know it even run on the Amiga 1000
As for AmigaONE-XE/SAM440/SAM460 its horribly slow because how it renders the web page, TimberWolf currently does not have any hardware acceleration, and when one pixel is changed on the page, hole window is redrawn, I believe optimizing is next thing one the todo list.
The AmigaONE-X1000 is currently the only Amiga that has the house power to pull it off, whit out hardware acceleration or any kind of optimizing. _________________ http://lifeofliveforit.blogspot.no/ Facebook::LiveForIt Software for AmigaOS |
