That's only because you have set up that way. Admittedly the default. But you can launch a script instaed ( I think having started this I'll have to go check)
Also it's because non of these browsers works the way AWeb does. If you start a new AWeb it sens a message to the exiting instance (if there is one) and the allready open AWeb opens the new window.
And further it's actually posible to add OpenURL as a broswer in UrlPrefs ...

| @kas1e Just donated. It was a pleasure watching the development of MUI versions OWB and MPlayer, finally people from both camps were working together. Please continue, I use both programs often. Thanks also to the other contributors as well.

I might be the blue Amiga user, but I see how important work that you do for the OS4 community, that I also have donated some. I look at OWB work as something useful.
You can give OS4 fans what they need, or if not. I feel that I've donated to a person that even with his doubt about "amiga future", still support and developes, so that Amiga users have something good to use. That is respect.
Take Care :)

I think you're not fair saying "the community"... the fact that kas1e had some troubles with some devs doesn't necessarily imply that the community has rejected him, the responses to this very thread prove you wrong!

would it be possible to use the foundation of webkit to build a modern/decent html datatype?

You are right, I probably overstated it. (like always)
Well not many came to back him thats for sure, I mean the guy went from the biggest os4 fanboy and leading the charge in important 3rd party developments to saying "i quit".. (which he didnt do thankfully :) )
Anyway thats all water under the bridge and things have progresssed greatly. Lets get the bounty up, and lets get the other devs compensated as well (fab too)

NetSurf does the same thing*, still takes a while to load the browser before being able to send the message and quit though, so using ARexx to open a new window is preferable.
* There are significant advantages to only having one copy of the browser in memory, obviously memory and resource sharing, but also drag'n'drop across browser windows only works if they are all created by the same session. NetSurf actually refuses to run twice (you can override but not recommended).Last edited by Chris_Y on 23-Feb-2012 at 10:57 AM.

kas1e left os4.x scene due to the way he was treated by certain os4.x developers. |
From what I understand, your comment is not an accurate description of what happened. My understanding is that Kas1e felt that he *needed* to be an OS4 Beta-tester for his porting work, but this didn't happen (at least not fast enough) because there is more to becoming a beta-tester than just wanting to be one. (And no, I don't know how they decide who becomes a beta-tester, but it's probably a mixture of rules & personal judgments.)
i.e. He was not badly treated by anyone. He just he did not get what he felt he needed within the time that he was prepared to wait... which is fair enough.Last edited by ChrisH on 25-Feb-2012 at 03:26 PM. Last edited by ChrisH on 25-Feb-2012 at 03:25 PM.

He was ignored and when he complained here about it others told him to stop whining.. so dont know how thats being treated well... granted some treated him well, why else would the guy almost quit... but he didnt so lets not dwell on negatives. |

I am all for supporting software developers whenever I can, but I hope everyone is not forgetting to support Fab and all of his tireless work on Odyssey (the MorphOS version of OWB-MUI), as the OS4.x version surely would not exist at all, if not for Fab's prior work and his help in moving it to OS4.x.
I don't know how much donations Fab has received for his contributions. Myself and a few other members of MorphZone.org have been suggesting that Fab be given the money from the canceled "Sputnik" web browser project, but there appears to be some obstacles to making that happen. I hope that Fab will also get some appreciation (and money) for all of his work on this and other projects.
I am not trying to take anything away from kas1e, he deserves all the attention and donations he is getting, but please don't forget Fab._________________ Amiga! The computer that inspired so many, to accomplish so much, but has ended up in the hands of . . . . . . . . . . |

Have a look at post # 5 in this thread. The olive branch was extended. Kas1e was the first to accept .

| Make a bounty and I will donate.
I would like to be sure the donation will split with all the programers involved on he project. And I like seing money growing on a bounty
Think also that if you want to see MUI-OWB or MUI-player fullscreen (AFAIR, MUI-OWB on morphOS could be used fullscreen) , we need to have someone able to fix/improve the P96 part (that kas1e try to update for MUI-player).
