@Seiya

Not realy. It is good to see that at least AROS is as fast as other Operative systems with similar hardware.

@nikosidis

Well, there's really no reason it wouldn't be as fast as other browsers using the same engine on this very computational area, as long as JIT is enabled (which is only available for X86 and ARM).
JavascriptCore is relatively fast, quite faster than FireFox in any case. Chrome's V8 should be a bit faster, though. But remember these javascript-centric tests don't necessarily reflect the speed of the browser in general. Gfx subsystem and hwacceleration (or lack of) is very important in this regard too. That's why peacekeeper test is a bit more interesting, imo.

By the way, WebKit actually got a nice substancial speedup again in javascript in the last month, but it also requires x86 or arm to make use of it.

@Fab

Yes, sure are other things that matter too.

With peacekeeper (html 5 tester) I got Score 725

Sure no video player is working in AROS version yet.

Other please try too:

however for the strange result of Sam460ex, maybe could be for high latency of DDR2.

i found this article:
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/memory/display/ddr2-ddr_2.html

@Seiya

X1000 also uses DDR2 and its result is not that strange.

@pavlor

yes, but Sam460ex has an embedded cpu (the core is 440ep)
maybe DDR2 are not so fast on Sam460ex. (DDR2 on Sam460ex are 533 or 667 Mhz?)

@Seiya

For AROS users, w8 for next odyssey version before testing.

I took the sunspider test on my ACER aspire one D255. Win. XP and latest chrome

Total: 1704,3 ms

Same test with ACER aspire one A110 with AspireOS and odyssey

Total: 1092.8 ms

Considering that D255 should be little faster than D110 AROS kills Windows XP :D

@KimmoK

I doubt it would be worth of effort.

I mean, faster is better, but it is little bit too application specific.

Had to test on x86.
ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

At work, "Centrino pro" (Core2Duo T7100 1.8Ghz, 2GB RAM) Lenovo T61 laptop, IE8:
SunSpider Total: 6574.0ms +/- 1.9% (SAM440 is only 75% slower!)
V8 bench: Score 44.4 (My SAM440 is only 15% slower, extreme LOL!)
(CPU0 is loaded 25% and CPU1 75%, so these tests on IE does not benefit from dualcore at all ... generates nice heat though...)

Suddenly my SAM seems like a powerhouse!

Update: fired up both tests at the same time on the workputer:
sunspider: 7329ms and v8: 41.4
(sunspider finished a lot earlier. funny how unresponsive windows becomes (difficult to move windows etc...), but now it used both cores at least)

So my SAM delivers 25...85% of the raw performance of a 1.8Ghz Core2dualcore laptop+IE8, when the test is not multithreaded. With multitasking (or multithread test) the laptop becomes 2x faster (it can perform 2x amount of work in the same time).

AOS4.2 SMP on x1000 + OWB will be interesting to test against wintel&IE8.

Being that I dont take these sorts of comparisons seriously I tried while running Winue, watching a blu ray movie at 1080p, and rendering an animation in 3ds max (just the stuff I had running already when I read this thread and decided to try, point being its a heck of a lot slower than it could otherwise be). Run on an old version of Chrome, on a 3ghz c2d on WinXP

Thank you all. I will see if I ever got time to put up a list, to show all this info ;)

I don't know if it is even interesting.

The conclusion must be that JIT enabled makes a huge difference when it comes to java-script.
