@TrevorDick

I imagine a big pile of news will be aimed at Amiwest.
Has anyone from finnish Amiga users community asked you about possible news items to publish/launch on our event? (SAKU2012 29Sep) http://saku.amigafin.org/english/index.html

Some teaser video clip perhaps?
(SMP+Gallium3D and netbook democlip would be nice)

@KimmoK

Although I am sure Trevor might have access to some inside information from Hyperion, as it pertains to OS4.1.5 on the X1000, I don't see how he would know or announce anything about SMP, or the Hyperion OS4.x NetBook. That info can only come from Hyperion themselves, not from A-Eon and Trevor.

I don't know who is working on Gallium3D? Is it still planned, or have they changed their plans on how to provide 3D support in the OS4.x video card drivers?

That is not to say that A-Eon and Trevor might not have some information to provide on new announcements for the Finnish Amiga users community at their event.

I personally hope that Trevor has some good news to release during the AmiWest Show, as well as some news from Hyperion as well.

Maybe the MorphOS Dev. Team will have some news to release at AmiWest too?

I know that a couple of AROS programmers are traveling a long way to be presenters and rent a display table at the 2012 AmiWest Show, so they should have some news as well to share with everyone.

There is lots happening in the Amiga community, so we all should be happy and enjoy all this activity and what we currently have.

For me I'd love them to announce network support for AmigaOS, I've not been able to get my other computers on my work network to reach any files stored on my AmigaOS computer. Other way around is fine (if known to be slow) using Samba, but nothing appears on my Macs 'Shared' panel in a Finder window.

Along with everything else, network support is top priority.

@amigadave

"...I don't see how he would know or announce anything about SMP, or the Hyperion OS4.x NetBook. That info can only come from Hyperion themselves, not from A-Eon and Trevor."

Right, my mistake.
AOS4 and netbook question redirected to @HyperionMP
@Trevor Perhaps something about those half secret projects then...

"I don't know who is working on Gallium3D?"

Bros are. They have a working Gallium3D on AOS4. At least in SW render mode.

"Maybe the MorphOS Dev. Team will have some news to release at AmiWest too?"

Some of them might be present in our meeting, at least.

>I know that a couple of AROS programmers are traveling a long way to be presenters and rent a display table at the 2012 AmiWest Show, so they should have some news as well to share with everyone.

Yes.
Related persons can PM me or jPV to pass possible news to SAKU2012 event.

(for some AOS4 demo SW, CapeChill could show something, if given permission)

UPDATE: To not to hijack this thread, some updates to SAKU thread:

They might be going to the SAKU2012 event, but I doubt very much that they will be at the 2012 AmiWest Show in Sacramento, CA, USA.

@Comi
At least they exist on
LinkedIN.

Seems their previous history is creating the 1541 Ultimate Disk Drive Cartridge - a hardware project that they say has sold over 1200 units.

They are apparently located in the Netherlands, a long way from California.

You have your Amiga at work?
Anyway, here from Windows, I access files directly in the Sam460 Ramdisk. This is using Samba.

@RobertB

I just reserved my seat also.

How long did it take to get a Paypal Invoice to be paid for the $29?

I had an automated email that I would be invoiced for it via Paypal and wondering when that will be.

See you all at the show!

@elwood

Yup.

Can't work out how to access from OS X Leopard, Windows is for noobs.

I assume OS X Leopard has Samba built-in so I just 'expect' the Drives to appear under 'Shared' in any Finder window.

AmigaOS can access any Samba-compatible computer on our network, even our ReadyNAS is accessible, but no idea how to do the opposite!

One should add 'Amiga show' to all events websites to notify everyone, even radio stations.

The more the locals know the better for this event, maybe even hire photographer for reporters to use the footage like a press pack.

Maybe even hire persons to promote Amiwest across schools/colleges malls.

Every year growing bigger, better and bolder.

How many companies/IT/games sites know about Amiwest ?

No one other than current and former Amiga users are going to be interested in attending a small computer show like AmiWest. It is a big deal for us, because it is the only formal Amiga show in the North American continent, or maybe even the Western Hemisphere. Remember there is not much of a budget to advertize anywhere and this is a free show due to the generosity of our sponsors and the hard work of the SACC members.

I am leaving tomorrow to travel North to visit family before finally ending up at the AmiWest Show hotel on Wednesday, Oct. 17th in time to pick up Samurai_Crow from the airport.

Hope to see all of you there.
