@eliyahu

im not sure if advising kingcon as replacement does help him, because as my understanding is the skin he wants to propose, should be easily redistributable and installable. by what i ever read about it on forums kongcon seems to demand a lot of manual tweaking to install. and also being an old third party path, this seems to be very much an interim solution, that sounds a bit like waste of time. im not sure if it is not the right moment either to blackmail the dev team to release at least the console with scroll bar for the time being or maybe just wait till they decide to do this by themselves and cover the rest of issues in the meantime.

Ah this is a challange and not a problem, djnick will provide a perfect looking install script with a fancy install icon.

The only thing that is distracts me from drawing is - selecting tools from tool menu. Each time I click on tool menu - it selects that window first [gray window becomes blue] and then it refreshes and then tool gets selected. Then I go back to drawing board, that window redraws, became blue [was gray] and slows down.

Look at this thread (and my posts) on Amigans.

To stay always on top was introduced in earlier version (1.3?), now it is optional I think, but didn't try it. I have no free time at all :(

@mr2

Thank you all :) and you mr2 :) I will try it later about windows staying all on top [as in Photoshop]. I never liked the way ImageFX worked [with lots of windows you have to click and activate].

The world has moved on from gray and square since quite a while now We next-gen users can enjoy not only rounded corners, but also a lot of other new features, without loosing any of the old, except the old custom chips then, when not running on a Classic.

Strange... but the world I live in has never been grey nor square (must be a Swedish thing)...

Ooooh... rounded corners you say... that's exciting... hang on while I pee my pants...

Course rounded corners are probably safer for little kiddies (no nasty sharp pointed corners to get hurt on then)...

Ahhh... missing custom chips eh.... Hmmm... strange that... you know an Amiga can never actually be an Amiga without it's custom chips, I mean what good is a motherboard when the most important chips are missing from it... methinks your NG must broken then...

It is good to have ppl like Franko, for sure. If everybody will drive good looking car, world would not be interesting :) After finishing rounded skins [for me and the rest of us] I will make several retro-looking skins ;) but in cool way.

To be honest, I loved how looked OS v1.0... It was really cool and perfectly designed, much advanced than anything similar at that time...

but I have to admit I've never liked OS2.0... Looked too gray and dithered

I love Retro. I will do squared & flat skin version after I do all the rest first.

Today I figured out where are all bitmaps for a single theme [I had to rename all Amiga images to *.png so I can open them in Photoshop] :)

@djnick

yes i remember you have to rename them to png, i ve once tweaked an afaos theme a little (since they are all mercilessly overblown as well).
what concerns me i like both of classic amiga themes, and also the magicwb even if never have set it up really. usually im all for simplicity, i wouldnt need a gradient where two lines are enough. for instance i loved one bit deep 1650x1080 blackandwhite workbench after i ve set it once ;)

@wawa

Here is what I noticed today and it seems there is currently no help for creating black marble skin :(

The problem is in fonts options for windows [I am on PC now so can't remember the exact name], but it was in font preferences. Top font text [where writes Workbench... blah blah] can be only BLACK [!?] and I can not put black marble background on windows with white text and dropshadow... There seems NO OPTION for that. I can do it with icon names and texts in WB, but not in window text :(

I hope I am wrong, but when I open font settings for window fonts styles - I can just make it look bold or italic or change font... No possibility to change color or add dropshadow.

I hope I am wrong but I will ask the same question on Hyperion's forum, as I just get registered today.

In the mean time I've created rounded corners with theme from AmigaOS.net [just swapped images with my re-created images and my colors from AmigaOS.net website... and added stripe backgrounds on windows.

I updated DeviantArt page so you can check out how it looks now.

http://djnick2k.deviantart.com/art/AmigaOS-4-1-skin-alpha-version-0-2-308824131

So, currently I am forced to do only light themes... Not contrasted [that might look cool in some stage]...

Also I am trying to figure out how to change separator.docky... If it is PNG file I could easily edit it.

@djnick
i think a theme should not be of much contrast anyway. the accent should be put on important controls.
as for the screenshot the corner roundings and the bevel on the window bar are too exposed. i would make them only decent, barely to bee seen.
all amiga skins i have seen like those of os4, aros, afaos, even mos look for me like overdone. they try to catch and attract the user attention while they should be really ambient;) . thats what makes them look amatheurish. look at for instance chrome title bar gradient. its barely recognizable.

edit: also i would make window borders as tiny as possible, if possible.

@djnick

Hi if you have a look at some of the themes on Amitheme web site, there are some dark themes with white text, so it may be possible.

@BandiT

Hey this is great news! But how? When select Sys/Prefs fonts there is font style only, not color I can select? I guess I will have to "hack" somehow black window text to be white window text?

This example you sent me would help me a lot. I will investigate more :)
