@NutsAboutAmiga

Thanks for that correction. I had forgotten about Composition.

Radeon HD uses Composition to display the graphics, whery similar to the video overlay because it does support YUV422 format. The rendering is done by GPU once its transferred into graphic cards memory. The bottleneck should only be transferee speed over PCI. (++adapter)

Yes, the RX cards are interesting, becouse more work load should be move to the graphic card, and if the RX card is decoding the video, then you should be able to transferee the video in compressed format. So less bandwidth should be needed over PCI.

I have just ordered another adapter. Twice as much as one from AliExpress but I have a confirmation it is based on PEX8112 chip. We will see

...and they sent me PEX8111

Don't waste any more effort please. The answer to the burning question is exactly as I suspected... it won't make a difference. Every video card in my cache has identical results regardless of which adapter is used.

@Bradsco

Thanks, Bradsco
So you finally got the adapter with a PEX8112 chip?

It kind of closes the topic, unless there are new versions of the drivers/UBoot.

I got a pair of them from Aliexpress for another project. I knew if they actually showed up as 8112 we could try this again.

Greennaam : Sam440 works with my R9 270X

Eternal Glory!! Well sort of. My Sam440 works with my R9 270X. So far I've booted into workbench. Going to test if 3D works as well. So apparently I'm the first one who got the sam440 working with a SI card. But it doesn't work with with my RX560 yet. It seems to freeze when displaying the amigaos4.1 boot image The RX560 has problems in my X5000 as well so I wouldn't draw any conclusions from that.

@Spectre660

I have a adapter and Radeon HD7850

Will this new driver with uboot update work with those?

@utri007

Cant say.
Greenaam used an adapter with a percom chip .
So still does not rule out both the Graphics card and the adapter being factors preventing things from working.
