@tlosm This one is a PCIE x1 to PCI adapter. I have one. It converts the small pcie x1 slot to PCI. I could not get my pci sata card to work with it. If it worked I could have covered the PCI slot and used the SATA card in the adapter connected to the pcie x1 slot. The option that might work is discussed in this thread
On an italian forum ... Massimiliano M3X speak about a sure compatibility with a riser with Asmedia Chipset.. I think with this riser i will not have problem with the dual slots video boards ... or i can buy a Pci Express riser too...
About the feedback of hans what is needed more can make me an example ... tomorrow i will post all needed
Luigi

Hans has responded to your post on his website. I think that you should explain to him the mod that you made to the card to make it single slot as if you modified the cooling this could be a factor.

hi spectre i made more tests today. I took the card and made like new without mods on it . After nothing to do .. i wrote all my experiece on hans blog.
Seems you have some experience with PCI to PCI-X adaptors i thought i could ask you.
I bought a MSI R5450 card, http://nl.msi.com/product/vga/R5450-MD1GD3H-LP.html and tried it with the same virtuavi (or whatever) PCI to PCI-X card on my SAM440 but all i get atm is 'some kind of cursor' but no U-boot screen and i can see AmigaOS kernel boot with the HD LED but then nothing.
Should U-boot work or not to start with ?
Maybe RadeonHD.chip needs to support it aswell ?
Thanks,

@all
I knew there were RadeonHD PCIe cards that worked with an adaptor in a Sam440-ep didn't realise that there were RadeonHD PCI cards that worked in a Sam440-ep.
Which PCI cards work, I dislike the idea of using an adapter.
Am using a Radeon9250 at the moment and would like a bit more get up and go in the graphics department.
I spoke with the guys at AmigaKit when I went to the VCF show last weekend and asked them the best grapics card for a Sam440-ep and they told me the 9250 was the best possible PCI graphics card.
Could someone supply a definative list of PCI RadeonHD cards that work on a Sam440-ep?
Whta you need to understand is that the performance of a RadeonHD card in the 33MHZ PCI slot with no DMA support on the Sam itx model is going to be too slow for comfortable use. So with the current situation you wont like it. If DMA support can be and is enabled fot the 33MHZ PCI slot in the future then it may be usable.

If you use ANY PCI card in a Sam440ep-Itx model it is going to be much slower than the onboard video chip. You can do whatever you like but don't complain after being told the issues before hand.

So you suggest sticking with the Radeon 9250?

Today marks two years since I started using the RadeonHD driver and a PCI to PCIE adapter with my Sam440ep-flex. I am now using a RadeonHD 6670 low profile card and the combination is lovely. Great Work Hans .
