@Thread,

I have supported Andreas from the very beginning and think I have every version and all the updates from version 2 forward to the latest version available today. I will check to make sure that my versions are all up to date, and if not, I will update to the latest versions available.

I even have the Windows version and the product that allows the playing of SCALA scripts in Hollywood.

I suggest that everyone interested in these products buy them now, before the store closes and you may never be able to buy them again. It seems clear to me that Andreas has some kind of insight that these products might not be available ever again, but can't release any details.

The speculations done by ChrisH seems very plausible and well thought out. The patent dispute, or selling of the product to another company are the two most believable scenarios to me, but there are others that are probably just as valid.

I hate to see the Amiga (OS4.x and MorphOS3.x) lose this great software product, but I am afraid that it might happen. Andreas might still be able to provide support for us current customers by providing updates and bug fixes in the future, but I would not take the chance of losing this opportunity to get Hollywood and Hollywood Designer while it is available, for all of you who don't currently own it, but are thinking that you would like to own it in the future.

So my advice is to take Andreas advice and get Hollywood/Hollywood Designer now, while you can. It is a great software product for the Next Gen Amigas (Not sure if it works on AROS though). Being able to write software on your Next Gen Amiga and compile the code to run on many other platforms is a huge plus for any Next Gen Amiga system.

@amigadave

Just for info... it works on Aros 68k so it should be working on Aros X86 (as 68k version). I have bought now Hollywood 5 for Windows because of the IDE and you can in any case compile it for Aros X86 (and hopefully ARM in future)

Well I would really love to own a copy, but right now I just can't justify the extra expense, I need food more.

I guess we will get the explanation later.

Owing to my fight with PayPal (don't get me started), I've had to initiate a bank transfer to get some money on the way to Andreas to upgrade my Hollywood and Hollywood Designer to the latest (and hopefully not last) versions. I sure hope we end up with some good news here, as this software is the best, most professional package we have going in modern times.

Good advice. I have no idea what is going on here, but I have already upgraded to the latest versions, including the Windows version.

Let's hope this is not the end of this excellent multi-platform Amiga product.

@TrevorDick

I am with you on this, I have sat on the fence too long here.

To be honest if my theory is correct then I have a head start on the competition and if it is wrong I have a great cross platform development tool kit to play with on OS4 and Aros through our 68k emulation.

Remembering also that I develop for Android and iOS means I can put demos together as well and maybe more.

Basically if you can afford to, buy it now.

@clusteruk

I am in the can't really afford it this month but just order today anyway as I have wanted this software sine first getting my sam440ep a few years back.

I don't want to miss out on my chances to get what looks like a very good cross platform rapid applications development just because cash flow is a bot tide over the summer.

I just hope that my opting for the CD versions won't cause me problems.

I am happy to say I got my CD's yesterday

Now all I need is some time to try them and start learning to program using Hollywood.

@amigang

Thanks for the reminder.
Unfortunately I can't upgrade my designer. Not enough money this month
I hope the future is bright.

Hi all,

Confirmed today (August 1) that the Airsoft software website and store has been taken offline and replaced with an REM quote and link to hollywood-mal.com which is still working...

http://www.airsoftsoftwair.com/

I notice a couple of sub pages are still available to view via direct link from Google (not from the front page of the website), probably just replaced the front page and removed the store section. eg. http://www.airsoftsoftwair.de/en/prod_designer.html#download

I hope Hollywood comes back someday, but doesn't look good does it? Glad I bought my copy of Hollywood 5 and designer before it closed down!

The website now just reads as:
---

That sugarcane that tasted good
That's cinnamon, that's Hollywood
Come on, come on
No one can see you try

That sugarcane that tasted good
That's who you are, that's what you could
Come on, come on
No one can see you cry

-- R.E.M.: Imitation of Life (2001)

Catcha,

Sadly, yes the main website of Altair s/w, but alternative website
http://www.hollywood-mal.com
still lists the plugins, news etc.

Even though I may not use for a while, I am so glad I bought a copy before the end.
