Glad they did get the proper rights beforehand, or at least it looks like they did. I've always wondered why they (or Cloanto) didn't do something like this years ago.

Ideally the royalties would be paid directly by Blackberry to Team 17, with a split to Amiga.

The only odd thing to me is... why Blackberry?

Wouldn't iOS make a lot more sense? Or maybe even Android? Not that it's a bad thing, as the Playbook is sort of cool, but from a business standpoint it seems like an odd choice. I'm assuming these are simply UAE wrapped games (or something similar), unless there is no UAE for iOS (I know apple frowns on emulator stuff)? And making actual money from android can be difficult... so maybe that is the reason.

I just saw all Playbook models selling for about 50% off at futureshop in canada, I'm afraid these are going to be out of the market soon, when the price is too good its not normally a good sign.

This could be good for both Amiga and BlackBerry. Both need recognition. ...if it is done well.

On the other hand I do not like Amiga, Inc. website. They are hinting that they are the same and the original company, and do not give any credit to AmigaOS development team, ...the Amiga, Inc. website might be trying to mislead people into thinking that AmigaOS is not developed.

Perhaps BlackBerry/RIM will purchase Amiga, Inc.

iPhone vs. Android sounds very much familiar to the annoying debate of Mac vs. PC. Everybody uses (and debates over) the two main competitors like if others don't exist.

I still do not have smartphone, but if I did, It would be BlackBerry, even if BlackBerry users become endangered species. I hate iPhone and I hate Android. One of the (but certainly not the only) reasons why I like BlackBerry is that it has a built in keyboard. (not all BlackBerry models have this feature, and also not all Anrdoid are a big slippery touchscreen) and I love regular keyboards. I can't stand the touch screens. A BlackBerry is more likely to have a built in keyboard.

Also BlackBerry appears to be the first smartphone, or among the first smartphones. It isn't overrated, and it very much reminds me of Amiga's history. They were the "first" computer, much better than comptetition. and for some reason very few people know about. ...similar to BlackBerry.

If this agreement was made with iOS, or Android: I don't know about Android, but Apple, Inc. would probably try to buy Amiga, Inc., the development teams, and anything Amiga-related, and then Apple, Inc. would shut down its former competition.

@number6

I noticed it mentioned before the release of the new BB10 platform these games should be completed. Well the BB10 platform has been released in the form of the Z10 and soon to be released Q10. So I wonder if they just remembred to post that?

I wish they anyway had a link to current AOS4 info.

The playbook will also have the BB10OS so it is a good tablet because of this and it's low price.
I bought one and for now I enjoy it.

I forgot about the blackberry apps... one of these days I should check it out.

I'm almost tempted to contact Amiga and see if they want one of the ancient Amiga games I wrote -- it was commercial, but just barely, and probably too dinky (text/graphics adventure) to really be worthwhile. It may work on the keyboard BB10 phone okay-ish though.

I think I'd need to wait until they scrape the bottom of the barrel with ports, or if they ever decide to offer freebie games.

I also still wonder why they aren't releasing Android or iOS versions too.

Good luck with that, I know people who have been to contact Bill/Amiga Inc for over 10 years and never got through/a reply.

Thats an odd statement ? Does that mean that Amiga Inc does not recognize Hyperions current AmigaOS as having a valid licence ? Atleast they seem to imply that by the statement ..

@Mr_DBUG

I do not know if it is really meant that way. They are not involved in "AmigaOS"-Development anymore so I assume they just do not want to mention more there.

@Fransexy

They have been popping up for the last few days in the trending apps. I have the z10 but I still probably wouldn't buy them lol.

They sooo forgot about this page, they left no info on court settlement.

What is stranger is that there is "Contact link" on "For information on licensing, or sales of any Amiga Operating System, please use our Contact form."

Even they never licensed or directly sold any.

Oh, historical reasons it was once part of they plan.

Now, they bet on Blackberry survival in hash Android world ...

And even less who ever concluded a deal.

But Amiga (Inc) indeed moves in mysterious ways, finding new ways to survive with no actual tech, products or OS

Bit of thread necrosis but I caved in and bought one out of interest. They have been trending on the app world games section for a few days and I just had to see of they were any good. And well...

Suppose it works. It's obviously an emulator running the game but still its not bad. I have seen worse.

Hyperion was supposed to turn over the source code for OS4 to Amiga inc as well:
