@Swoop

AROS source code is a BSD like agreement, you don't have to revert back the changes, just acknowledge the authorship. At least it was like that in the past.

@pixie

No you are wrong, every change to the used code must be made public: (from license)

"Any Modification which You create or to which You contribute must be
made available in Source Code form under the terms of this License
either on the same media as an Executable version or via an accepted
Electronic Distribution Mechanism to anyone to whom you made an
Executable version available; and if made available via Electronic
Distribution Mechanism, must remain available for at least twelve (12)
months after the date it initially became available, or at least six
(6) months after a subsequent version of that particular Modification
has been made available to such recipients. You are responsible for
ensuring that the Source Code version remains available even if the
Electronic Distribution Mechanism is maintained by a third party."

@Troels

Because no one else has transcribed Steve Sollie's presentation.

@Arko

Get this into your head, I'm not going to remove every post that is critical if it is a justifiable question (for example, "where are the netbooks?"). But when someone keeps banging on about the same old stuff just to stir the pot then it is going to get deleted.

You're not an OS4 user and you probably never will be. Ask questions, but stop derailing a thread just for the hell of it.

Sometimes posts will wander off topic briefly and as long as it doesn't become a thread within a thread I'm happy with that.

If you want further clarification then PM me.

I think Acube was involved in developing HAL to run AOS4 on top of.
Demo SW was ready, but AmigaInc pulled the plug.

From Amigans.net:

"So far, there has been no change of plan in what will entail 4.2, so I don't really see where that path is not clear enough. I also don't see why people try to draw negative vibes out the Warp3D announcement. It just adds something that you didn't even expect to get before."

UPDATE:
"we need to be able to adjust to the situation. The new Gallium/Mesa release is such an example; I'd rather let it rest for a month until the final version of 9.0 is out than try to work with a developer release only to find that something substantial has been changed."

@scabit
"about how important it is to ensure that the petty bickering and in-fighting among MorphOS, AROS and AmigaOS4 users and developers stop...especially on the forums where many people come to look at what is going on with the Amiga these days and are immediately scared away by the continuous arguments and idiotic and pointless attacks and counter attacks from one group to another"

That was also on moo (still have shivers of visiting that place, ugly corner of internet) but not that clearly worded, so I did not try to copy it.

Then:
What can the community do to not to scare people away?
Ban all naysayers? I think it will backfire.
Clean nasty threads off from the front page?

Because good PR guy is missing from AOS4 crew?

But really, simple informative blogging could do miracles!

AROS uses the APL license which is a modified MPL 1.1.

i think this tread has gon offtopic already on colaboration subject. this is only a part of clarifications, so whoever is interested should probably open a separate thread based of steven solies announcement. but before id prefer to hear his speech recording to know exactly what he said not to relate to third party interpretations.

@ssolie

To return to the topic...

A direct question... Do you have any ideas or suggestions how this collaboration could happen?

What do you think of my idea to create the common code-base that is open and shared between all OSs?

I think the colaboration aspect is OK, but it would be good to see those interested in that topic start a dedicated thread to see what can be achieved.

We have three major branches now to the original OS and it would be great to see combined projects that pool resources rather than see the wheel reinvented 3 times.

I'll be damned! I always though it to be BSD like, not GPL... :(

@Trixie

Cheers! Time for me to head off for some pints in Dublin after a long week in work, and then off to London for a couple of days for some more socialising!

@Thread

Maybe I'll give this site a wide berth for a few days, see if all the crap talking goes away in the next week or so... It's such a shame, but I knew as soon as this topic was started that it would descend into this sort of drivel. People bitch and moan about the lack of communication, but when one of the key developers comes along to provide just that, he gets trolled right out of it. I'm surprised he's come back to this thread as much as he has.

Right, I'm off. Enjoy your crap-slinging contests, and never forget that no matter which Amiga "camp" you belong to, it's never going to be any more than a pathetic, stagnant, irrelevant little puddle beside the vast oceans of the real world. One puddle might have more water, or less mud, but it's still just a lonely little puddle in the grand scheme of things.
