| Today I received my Sam460ex and now I have to get a decent card for it. I know that there are upcoming Warp3D drivers coming, which Radeon HD series (4xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx) will be getting Warp3D support soon?
One more thing, the PSU that came with my case (it takes low profile) outputs 250watts. Will it be enough to power an approppriate video card from the 5xxx or 6xxx series?
Thanks for any replies!

6xxx series. HD 6570 or HD 6670. You could wait to see if we get Warp3d for 5xxx and 6xxx series as announced and what the performance is.
You may need a stronger PSU . 400W is recomended for these cards in the PC world.

| @Spectre660 At the moment I am using the onboard videocard which is a nightmare. I was thinking of getting a 5xxx card which costs just over 30 euro. I could upgrade later if I needed, but as 5xxx is getting Warp3D, most probably it is more than enough.
As for wattage I think 250 watts is more than enough for the complete system, including a 5xxx card.

My understanding is that a Sam system with HD and DVD drive consumes less than 100 watts. That leaves 100-ish watts for a video card.
To get an idea of video card power consumption levels on the HD6xxx series check out this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ati_gpu#Northern_Islands_.28HD_6xxx.29_series
As you can see, both the HD6570 and HD6670 suggested by Spectre660 consume less than 70 watts TDP so you should, in theory, be fine.

The 5xxx series is ok if you can get one. The HD5450 is very low end though .

You can see difference in the 5450 vs 6450. However if your not a gamer you would probably be fine with a 5450 card. I used a radeon 9200 on my old A1XE and i was fine with it. Other then games maybe raytracing apps could have use of faster cards etc. But for everyday surfind trying out apps and such that card would be ok. It all depends also on how much money you want to use. Im no expert in gfx cards. When os4.2 arrives well probably have support for 7xxx series of cards. So either you get a better card now or go 5450 and if you one day need something better upgrade :)
You can see difference here. The 6450 card looks better. If the price isnt that much difference go for the 6450. Both are cheap low speed cards. Faster cards normally draws more power too.

Does the ultimate come with low profile brackets, or just full width? Thanks! _________________

I don't remember, I should check in its package (I have not here in my home). However the vga output is floating so if you find low profile brackets you can use them |

It is exactly the gfx I own and its completely fanless and 1 slot thickness: the pipe you can see is structural part of fanless cooling |

Then its not good for my case, as being low profile it needs that the card is less wide. _________________

I have an Asus HD5450, works great. 37 Watt Needs the whole Sam460 with this Card (64GB SSD, no DVD, SATA Controller).
For me it is more than enough, if we get Warp3D Power games, then i can upgrade if needed.

What is the exact model that you have please :)
By the way, I have an X300 SE laying around unused. Can I use this one until I get a better card? Can I damage anything if I try it? Cheers! _________________
