@Bezzen

Hey, thanks! I wish you'll soon find the time, and that you'll be thrilled to have reserved that time to Huenison

@saimo

I've got the new version yesterday!
But, is there a "history/version -list" anywhere on the net, regarding Huenison?

Nope: the current version is the only available. Or am I misunderstanding your question?

@saimo

Well, I bought and installed Huenison some time ago...

And now got the e-mail:
"Huenison Updated - Please Download and Reinstall!"

Isn't that an update (new version)?

@Nicsoft

Sorry, I misunderstood: I thought you had bought it yesterday. I thought I'd better keep it simple and reassure you that you had the right version.

Long story: while backporting some pieces of code to BOH, I've found two very silly bugs (that can be almost safely said to have been caused by lack of sleep); so, I have given RGCD the bugfixed version, which they then made available to all the customers, just like you reported. I provided a changelog which, I was told, would be included in the notification.
Maybe they changed their minds - I'll check. Now I don't have the changelog at reach, but I can post it here later, if you want.

Back to as to why I decided to keep it simple: I don't want people to be concerned about the latest version (who buys it now gets it automatically and who bought it before was informed) and, also, I'm so terribly ashamed and angry at myself for those two idiot bugs that it irritates me even more to talk about them.

@saimo

Well, thanks - You have just given me the info!
I usually read the "change-logs" regarding programs, to see if there are bug-fixes or new features (improvements)...

The game is a bit difficult for an oldie like me, but I am improving...

Then you'll appreciate this...

Changes list:
1. fixed memory leak (a memory buffer was lost at each screen transition);
2. fixed storing of player name (the name was not remembered automatically);
3. added 5x CRT dots mode;
4. made minor changes to instructions/manual.

As for point 3: initially I had left out that mode because I thought it looked a bit odd, but it doesn't really... so I decided to add it as a "sorry for the inconvenience" gift.
As for point 4: I rewrote in better English the instructions relative to something, but now I can't say exactly what

Practice does a lot. At the beginning, everybody needs to get used to it. During the first days of development, the first time that the bricks started falling and the cannon was working (and there wasn't anything else), I hit the wall of being unable to control the cannon quickly and with precision, too

Must be doing something wrong. Can't get the game installed on my Sam440. Something with a string in line 31 in the installer(script?). Someone any idea or same experience?!?

Thanks in advance!

First time I hear this

Please let me ask:
* by any chance, do you use an alternative Installer utility?
* which version is the Installer you have?

Installer aside, in the meanwhile you can easily install the game manually:
1. create a drawer where you want to install it;
2. copy the "data" directory there;
3. copy the "AmigaOS/Huenison" file there;
4. copy either the "AmigaOS/Huenison-B.info" or "AmigaOS/Huenison-W.info" file there, with the name "Huenison.info", depending on whether you want a Black or White icon.

Please let me know.

@saimo

Thanks for the response.

Manually it's a go. It's working straight ahead.

I'm not using anykind of alternative installer under OS4.1 update 6. According to AmiUpdate i'm up-to-date and just try to run the installer that comes with the package (ver. 1.2).

Is my input usefull or do you need more info?

Thanks.

Can you please execute the following string in a shell and report the result? Please note that the ` character is not a quote but a backtick, ASCII character 96 (I suggest you simply copy and paste the string).

Version `which Installer` FULL

Here the result is

Installer 53.1 (04/02/2010)

This version has no problem handling the installation script.

For the record, line 31 of the script is this (and I can't see any problem in it):

(prompt "Select where to create the directory \"Huenison\"\n(all files will be installed there and nothing will be touched outside of it).")

Sorry, it took a while: sleep/work..

My installer version is 53.1, same date (different format, i'm Dutch).

First time i tried to make the installation from HD, today tried i again from ramdisk. Both result in the same error :

PARAMS: Resultstring too long in line 31.
in line 31.
Error not Trapped!!!"

Curious isn't it?

Thanks for the effort.

Hmm...

The string "Select where to create the directory \"Huenison\"\n(all files will be installed there and nothing will be touched outside of it)." is 129 bytes (including the backshashes), so it's fine as per the Installer.guide 51.2 (11.03.2006), which states:
* The maximum size of a string in a script is 512 bytes.
* '\"' double quote
* '\n' newline character

Since the same Installer version works just fine here, I'm thinking that the problem might be related to localization (I use none) and/or to some other specific condition that exists in your system.

Anyway, can you please make the following test? Open the installer script with a text editor and replace the string with this: "Select where to create the directory Huenison (all files will be installed there and nothing will be touched outside of it)." - just to check if the troublesome bit is the escape sequences.

@saimo & tap

i bet it's a localization issue, try to switch to english just for this minor test...

lets just call it a "gut" feeling.
