@OlafS25

It was founded to produce hardware primarily for AmigaOS, but also for other markets.

i have assisted (and still do) with several amiga projects, so dont approach me with such an argument. are you going to ask that everybody who you dont agree with? what amiga hardware or software have you produced yourself, if this proves your point so much?

Funny response. So you think it okay to judge anyone else for not regularly producing hardware/software, but when it comes to yourself, you are exempt from such examination? I do not ask everyone that question, I ask you because it is YOUR ARGUMENT. Unless you just like to slam Acube systems or certain others who you disagree with?
That's what seems to come through in your message. Such ways of thinking are why most of what you say is self discredited. You are the one who made the comment and suggested this idea that those who do not actively produce things are talent "down the drain". I personally think Acube accomplished exactly what they set out to do, and am glad for their success and contribution to the Amiga community. I am also very glad they continue to support the Amiga, whether they produce new hardware every year or not.
As for myself, I have written numerous Amiga programs, some for sale, many for free. You can search OS4 depot and see that, as well as Aminet. And yes, i produce stuff regularly... though not as often as I would like. I spent many months when I first got my AmigaOne downloading most 68k programs from Aminet and testing them in OS4 and eventually adding them to the database on Intuitionbase. In fact, I won an award - a year long subscription to Amigafuture magazine, for my contribution last year to Intuitionbase.
In addition, I am also debugging drivers for Debian linux on my AmigaOne as an ongoing task. So I do';t mind being examined by your critical judgment, even if you yourself do.

To get back on topic, Acube has done a great job making hardware available for the next generation Amiga and I am so glad they are a success story in this Amiga landscape so littered with unkept promises and failures to produce new hardware.

Scott

i dont judge acube nor blame them. i just find it sad it has not lead to expansion or at least sustain of the user base when it comes to os4. and im not a coder, i not try to sell any software im just trying to be of assistance. probably like you do. only by your logic you would never be allowed to have any opinion on anything, you couldnt prove doing better. this is actually _very_funny_standpoint_.

btw out of curiosity, what sig do you use for your software on aminet? couldnt find anything for "scott" or "scabit". ;)

@Hondo

I hope that Acube indeed do the dual core Mamba.
This would give a low end dual core machine abouts half the speed of Cyrus
and a single core performance faster than a 1.2GHZ A1XE excluding Altivec.

Yes :( I'm very unhappy thanks of this uboot 14 April upgrade I m able to make the soft reset... But the Sam run at 925mhz speed the pcb goes underclock from 203mhz to 185mhz ... And now I have lost from 10% to 30% of the global performances :( :( from 2040mips to 1800mips :(:(:(:(:(:

@Spectre660

Sorry, I was too tired to properly calculate.

One 465 core 1.5 GHz would be half as fast as one e5500 core 2 GHz in most tasks (exactly as you wrote).

But without Altivec.

I hope ACube Systems won't produce anymore any new Amiga with a CPU without Altivec (even if it's slightly more expensive).

I compared P5020 to 465 core that doesn´t have AltiVec too.

There aren´t many suitable e600 core based SoCs - MCP8640/8641 lack many features (SATA, USB etc.) and MCP8610 has only one core.

I estimate P5020 may be as fast (or even faster!) as PA6T in most AltiVec depending tasks.

the 465 is an expensive cpu.... i think will be better the Freescale config for Sam too.

@pavlor

Acube should hold out until they can use a T-series QorIQ. Design a board for the T1, for instance the T1022 has the same cores as the P5020, and there's an upgrade path within same footprint to the P2081 which has Altivec. To me, that's a no-brainer. Less work to use a core that's already going to be supported by OS4 (sharing porting costs), upgrade path means Hyperion can begin porting to the e6500 immediately.

In my firm opinion. I don't see a point in feigning humility here. However, I respect ACube to have their own opinion

Using "voltage" instead of "potential", which leads to inventing new words like "amperage" instead of "current" (I, measured in A) or possible "charge" (amperehours, Ah or Coulomb, C). Sometimes I don't even know what people mean.
