@RobertJDohnert

Regarding X86/X64 that already exists, is called AROS and there is support for X86/X64, ARM, PPC and 68k and it is opensource.

I may just go ahead and say on my website that Im going to make Amiga branded hardware and software and wait for them to contact me. In my experience sometimes its easier to ask for forgiveness then permission rather than ask for permission first.

hmm according to your website, this has been already done

Amiga OpenLinux
Amiga Enterprise Linux

Now you will probably learn wrath of the Amiga community. Amiga and Linux in one sentence, that sounds like abomination to some of us.

But if you get proper licence from Amiga.Inc, then you can count with my voice on this forum.

Edit: In some cases, Settlement Agreement grands Hyperion responsibility to legally defend "Licenced Marks" (eg. Boing Ball), be careful, you may end in court with them. (See 13. Intellectual Property Enforcement)

Indeed.

Actually, at this point everything to do with this from CUSA until this latest development seems a circus to me. Send in the clowns.

If anyone bothered to read Trevor's blog, they'd know the answer to that.
He wrote about Roberto and the distro almost a year ago.

@RobertJDohnert

here are more informations regarding this:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_support

and here:
http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Aros/Platforms/x86_Complete_System_HCL

then there are "hosted" solutions, most important and perhaps interesting for you "Linux hosted"

Developers can download "nightly builds" that are only very limited but good for testing and to see newest features.

That you find here:
http://aros.sourceforge.net/nightly.php

For end user there exist different distributions with lots of software:
Icaros Desktop http://vmwaros.blogspot.de/ (X86)
AspireOS https://sites.google.com/site/arosaspireone/home (X86)
Aeros http://www.aeros-os.org/ (Linux hosted, you need password for download)
AROS Vision http://www.aros-platform.de/html/distribution_download.html (68k)

at the moment there is a lot of activity regarding ARM support (versions for Efika MX and Raspberry). There also exists a 64bit version but I think no activity there at the moment.

There is also a reimplementation of the "Amiga Kickstarts" that is opensource and can be free included in emulators. I have setup a page with games and applications that run with them:
http://www.aros-platform.de/html/compatibility.html

Fantastic summary Olaf, I'm often confused myself about how the AROS distributions/projects relate to each other.

Thankyou for taking the time to explain this clearly.

Should probably include this link with posts from cgutjahr and HyperionMP, just to be clear.

well fair enough but be forewarned that Amiga branded Linux boxes with a Linux distro called OS4 is akin to cannon fodder

@klx300r

where are we again?

@thread

And I see it this way... if someone has a agreement with Hyperion he can be sued by Amiga Inc. and vice versa. It is a deadlock so the brand "Amiga" is (at the moment) completely useless. Hyperion has no interest that something else than PPC and their AmigaOS will ever be sold using "Amiga" and PPC based solutions they could offer are not competitive (and thus sellable) today. Except someone with a huge pocket that acquires the rights from both Amiga Inc. and Hyperion and thus ends the deadlock nothing will change.

It is a pity (regarding marketing) but it is at the end not very important anymore.
