Driving back got to speak to Chrish(again) mikeyc and a few others including of course Matthew, the man himself Trevor and Ravi.

Make sure you get down there tomorrow and show your support. There is plenty to do if you have little ones too in the Musuem. Too hot?. There is an outdoor area and again if you have kids a discovery playground... And a nearby van to cool otg.with an ice cream and coke.

Am I dreaming or is there really TWO different motherboards ???

I would have been totally satisfied if he revealed just one board

Way to go to all involved parties.....KEEP THIS PARTY GOING

But two boards you're never going to buy is a lot better than just one board you're never going to buy - just imagine all the money you save this way: instead of not investing 3000 Euros into OS4 hardware, you're not investing 6000 Euros in OS4 hardware!!!!

@all:

Maybe somebody could explain to me why new hardware is a good thing? It's not like the existing hardware is properly supported yet. A-EON and/or the dev team owe at least half decent gfx card support aswell as OS 4.2 to the X1000 owners, and it doesn't look like either is going to happen any time soon.

Yay, new hardware. Now, somebody please promise we don't have to wait until summer - that would make my day. Because the one thing we lack most (in addition to more hardware, of course) is premature announcements.

@cgutjahr

Who says I'm never gonna buy one of the new boards? - and if not then perhaps the prices on the used SAM's will go down a bit , and the X1000 could suddenly show up in the classifieds

Come on man - there's a reason new boards are happening. That's because AmigaOS is progressing nicely behind the scenes.

Go celebrate man instead of nitpicking

@cgutjahr

I kinda of half agree with u, in 2003 we had the hardware from eyetech but a very beta OS and hardly any software, fast forward to 2009 we got software but no hardware, now acube and a-eon has been providing us with new hardware the market is a lot more stable but I think we need to go look at updating and expanding software support again, can we do both, expand the hardware and software it looks like they are trying but the time it's taken to get support for x1000 and development of os4.2 I thinks going to be a long game I worry there overstreaching the limited resources the Amiga community has.

So it seems these are two new AmigaOne MB. Maybe the smaller is a mini-ITX format?

@Hondo

Yes two boards, Cyrus and Cyrus+.

Cyrus is the MicroATX board that we saw a small teaser image of on the A-EON Facebook page and Cyrus+ is full ATX just like the current X1000.

It is likely to be some while before they hit the market because they may need a further revision before the hardware is final and then there's drivers etc. Should be cheaper than the X1000 too because the SOC are cheaper than PA6T

X1000 is still on sale but I'm not sure if that's simply fulfilling back orders. Apparently Trevor was able to get a per unit price of $600 on the PA6T for the latest run.

Sorry I can't post any pics right now because I don't have a card reader or the correct USB lead with me right now.

edit.

looks like you guys found pics anyway.

so where does these 2 new boards, presumably cheaper than X1000, especially this mini ITX, leave Acube and their SAM boards?

@andres

Unlikely with 4 slots ....

Most likely microATX (right) and full ATX (left).

@WolfToTheMoon

They will both be more expensive than Acube boards but cheaper then current X1000. Trevor said he could have cheaper board but doesn't want to compete with Acube because it's better if the remaining companies work together.

Pauses... Scratches head... Nope, that still makes no sense to me whatsoever.

I think I'll leave the discussion here, as I can't think of anything positive to say about another >£1000 Teh custom Amiga(One) board.

+1...

It seems they'll never learn...

It would make sense if this Mini/Micro ITX was priced below Sam460, but this is just ridicolous...

@WolfToTheMoon

If they were to go head to head on price in such a a small market they would put each other out of business.
