(1) Error - Can't open 'vilintuisup.library' V2
After copying that library to Libs: I still have this error.

(2) No problem (except some pixels rendered green where it should not. Rendering from a IFF24 picture).

I don't even have that library. Was this by choosing saver Picasso96?
If so, please try a 32 bit mode.

Added: found your error. You must have chosen Picasso saver instead of Picasso96 saver.

Another tip: Make directories for Backup_Loaders, Backup_Savers, Backup_Operators, etc. Copy all modules that you want to keep but are of NO use to your system there. It will have the extra benefit of making for shorter scrolling lists of loaders, savers, and operators, the next time you start AdPro.

If this was from rendering to WB screen, then consider this just a test for now that rendering to WB works. ok?

I added a post about the palette screen that you can try until we resolve your display issue somehow.

Yes, it was a PICASSO saver. I don't have a Picasso96 one.

For the palette editor, I've choosen P96-0:FAKENATIVE: 320 x 256 DPF
I can see the editor (after moving the mouse pointer to the right), but the color are wrong.

Not sure it is relevant, but from Prefs/Picasso96Mode, I don't have any mode.

[Edit] The green pixels I've seen are probably in the original picture. My previous monitor was probably too small to spot them.

Happy to help, but we may need some input from mbrantley here who has a closer match to your graphics card and monitor.

Quote:

ok. I suspected we might hit this wall.
Please do a version full from shell for your version of AdPro and post the results.
Also, for comparison please post what is in the AdPro "about" window.
We were going to have to substitute some files at some point anyway, because of *grumble* Commodore. I'll PM you about this after you post your version.

Understood. Again, we're getting rid of any errors or "can't do that" stuff. The palette editor is not going to function as you remember regardless, but at least you get the screen.. This does NOT prevent you from working with palettes, loading them, using them in FRED. This is merely about "display".

It's a LED TV/monitor from LG (TV HD 26MA33), plugged with a HDMI cable.
I set the screemodeprefs/monitor according to the monitor specs.
The highest resolution I can get is 1366x768 ARGB32. This is the resolution I use by default for the workbench; it has a correct x-y shape, full screen.
But anything below 800x600 open a screen bigger by a few pixels outside the display area.

That's probably due to your TV/monitor thinking it's being used to display video at that resolution as it would be on a PC. it's a problem when using HDMI. does your TV have a DVI port? that will give you the full screen or even use VGA.

grab picasso96 for OS3 on aminet. That has a 'saver' for adpro in the archive.

Excellent. Does the archive have anything else AdPro related?

Sure, but if the argument is "no serious software" then mode promoting of any Amiga software from the past is a useless endeavor, right?

Point is, if someone wanted to work on NG and render in Ham in order to send to someone with classic AGA, they could see what they are sending by actually seeing the image in Ham, which you CAN do with mode promotion.

Also, dpf is how I get the AdPro palette on screen without any errors.

*shrug*

The point is that HAM is obsolete as far as NG is concerned, send them a JPG, if they want to use a program to show it on a HAM screen it's up to them or they can just use their 'other' computer/mobile phone/tablet etc. to view it.

Personally I've not used HAM modes since the mid 90's. I hope when you render ham screens for classic users you also render 16 colour grayscale for viewing on hercules displays in case they have an old pc as well

As far as modepro goes it seems to do no harm on my setups and I like how it works. I like to run a lot of old software but not under UAE. VistaPro's preview renders, for example, work great in HAM mode.

Being able to move a range of colors, or define which ones are to be kept when computing a new palette, was one of the thing I liked with ADPro.
For example, I used Photogenics and ADPro to build a startup screen for Windows 98 which said "Warning ! Windows detected on this machine.". The "WARNING" was color cycling.

It's more complicated than I thought.
The other input I can use on my monitor for PC type devices is a VGA connector.

From AMD site, I read that the Radeon HD 6870 has a VGA plug (?), but looking at the rear of my X1000, I can't see one.

HDMI-to-VGA (or DVI-to-VGA) is not as simple as buying a cable, because the signal has to be converted from digital to analogic. So I have to find the right adapter in this case.

DVI to VGA is simple, you can get DVI to VGA adaptor for about 2 pounds (3 dollars) over here in the UK. The really cheap ones (1 pound) are terrible and give the same problem as direct HDMI but the 2 pound and up work fine, I'm using one on my mac mini atm to connect it to VGA.

You can also get a DVI to HDMI cable easily enough and for only a couple of dollars which might be worth a try.

We're still working on a few basics of AdPro.
We can do VistaPro next. Heh.

You can prepare for that with making one change necessary for a lot of mode promotions though. It won't harm any that don't require it, so again, it's something you do just one time and forget.

Prefs/GUI/controls - Check the box for "Planar screens on RGB" if not checked by default and "save" prefs.

If you want to take this further:

How I finally got VistaPro 3.05 to work on my AmigaOne

For some reason there were slight differences (such as NOT having to edit the binary) to use this on Eyetech Amigaones. Also some differences in Ham8 mode and between crt and lcd, so follow the instructions of @scabit and @mbrantley please.

AdPro will also freeze the system before it's even opened it's window if you're running Dopus Magellan.

@thread

Just a brief comment about loading .jpg with a loader from AdPro/loader2 directory.
Whether you have the original .jpg loader or a later fixed version, you can still encounter .jpg files that will produce an error.
The most common one is "unsupported SOF marker".

The simple solution to fixing .jpg files that are progressive or have headers that the old AdPro loader does not understand:

(1)Download jpegoptim PPC from OS4depot
Source

(2)Install in c: for simplicity sake
(3)Make a directory to process any .jpg files you have that won't load with the AdPro .jpg loader. COPY those files to that directory. Only work with copies, because this utility will alter the originals. It won't recompress, but it will be changing the file headers.
(4)Open a shell, change to THAT directory and type:
jpegoptim -f -v #?
You'll see verbose output in the shell as it processes every file. You can eliminate that feedback by eliminating the "-v" parameter if you like.

This will also solve the same issue that any other older program with an older loader is having.

@AmigaPhil

Excellent. It's an extra step to be sure, but it's a fix. Heh.

@Broadblues wrote an updated loader for ifx with newer .jpg standards, but I think this file conversion to JFIF is the cure all for most of our other older programs.

Or just load the jpg into picshow, cybershow etc. and save it. to save jpg instead of 24bit iff in picshow use the options JP JQ (quality) in the command line. I use 85.

@All

For those that don't RTFM, picshow does a lot of the basic stuff adpro does, scaling, cropping, colour adjustment, rotating, mirror, correct skewed pictures, colour to grey etc. just check the menus...
