@AmiDARK

I will donate what little I can as soon as the bounty is set up and running.

One thing I would really like to see from other experienced programmers, is an objective review of what AmiDARK Engine can enable programmers to do on AmigaOS4.x (and MorphOS, AROS as well) in the future when it is finished.

The author of AmiDARK Engine is naturally biased in favor of using AmiDARK Engine when it is done, but what do other programmers think of AmiDARK Engine's capabilities, and proposed capabilities? How many other programmers are looking forward to using AmiDARK Engine when it is released? How many "Bedroom Coders" will want to use it to produce an occasional game, or other software application?

I am just a "Wanna Be" programmer, with very little real experience programming (mostly just scripting changes for an existing custom application), so I am not really qualified to answer my own questions above.

Also, how would AmiDark compare with Unity3D.
And with SDL or AMOS?

What other 3D game development "kits" we have on our niches? Any?

(my memory fails me?)

@KimmoK
I download the free version of Unity3D and I'll tell you.

What I can say concerning the AmiDARK Engine is that it can be used from C/C++ and uses the same commands/functions names/convention than DarkGDK (from TheGameCreators : http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2128 ).

What I planed when I started the project, was to firstly create in some sort, a clone of DarkGDK and then, when the work will be done, to create an IDE that will makes AmiDARK Engine be used like DarkBASIC Professionnal ( From TheGameCreators : http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_product&id=2000 ).
And then, with this 2nd step, we may have a "basic langage" capable of 3D on our Amiga computers.... Of course, DarkBASIC Professional is really similar to AMOS / AMOS Pro in some points.

These 2 products DarkGDK & DarkBASIC Professional can be tried (PC Only) for free on the TheGameCreators website. It can show you what I'd like to do for our Amiga computers.
But, if you try them to have a more precise idea of what I planed, don't forget that we don't have SHADERS on Amiga.

We have others GDK for our Amiga but none as "easy of use" than the TheGameCreators products ;)
Others GDK I know that exists :
- http://www.arkham-development.com/ ( MorphOS / AROS / Amiga68k )

@AmigaDave :
Of course, The AmiDARK Engine makes things easier to create a video game but, if you want to create a "complex game", it will be complex too with the AmiDARK Engine. Of course ... less complex than with others existing products, but, you must have some knowledge in maths, structures and games logics to create a game.
Of course the AmiDARK Engine removes the "annoying" thing you have to learn in C/C++ (like pointers for example)...
What the AmiDARK Engine may be able to do when finished ? Answer is with the informations below concerning TheGameCreators products upper ;)

Here is a basis of what I will probably do for the Bounty :

1. I request 2000€ to release the source code of the AmiDARK Engine. I consider this money more like a "kickstarter" to help me financially that will pay "time" to code more on the AmiDARK Engine.
2. The source code will be released under the MPL licence.
3. Requested by members of the Amiga community : I Will continue code on the AmiDARK Engine and be in some sort, at the head on choices concerning the development of the AmiDARK Engine and many things are already in "mind" to increase the performances and take benefit of our Amiga configuration.
4. If the Bounty reach 2500€, I will acquire a configuration for MorphOS and 1 MorphOS Licence.
5. If the bounty reach 5000€, I will acquire a X1000 computer ( priced at 2320€ at relec.ch and AmigaOS4.1 for X1000, and try to make support for X1000 custom chipsets as "additional plugins" using the current AmiDARK Engine plugin system.

But earlier, this was one of your reasons to stop:

and the need to recenter to my family

Is the bounty amount enough to offset this as well as the financial concerns previously mentioned?

@Billt :
Yes, and the reason why I have to recenter to my family is our financial problems.
From now a long time (my wife lost his job ... and during 2013 I've lost mine) we cannot find solution to up the slope ...

We've not seen what we call in france "social worker" and we've prepared a report for "indebtedness". I must give the report to the "social worker" tomorrow and the organism (composed by french bank, center of taxes, socials workers) will decide if they'll "freeze" our current credits (my old company I've not finished to pay, and our car we've not finished to pay) during 2 years or "remove it entirely", because with our low financial ressources, the credits make our situation become really difficult ... And with a freshly born baby ... we have more things to pay we cannot avoid.
(it makes now 2 times my bank threat us to put us in "prohibis bank"...

My wife should restart a new job within the next 2 months so she will win again some money (I win money we call unemployment insurance but it's not enough alone so if she restart a new job we should be ok, and I'll take care of the baby at home because I started a traininf of professional reclassification due to my ElectroHyperSensibility problem).
So, I've though about the solution of the bounty.
If we get 2000€ for us, this should help us be no more in "negative" each month and, with the bounty up, now that the social worker have found a solution to give us a specific allocation, these 2 things should help us up the slope until my wife restart a new job.

Here is why the "bounty" is proposed.
It's firstly to help us, and secondly, it will give more power to the Amiga community (all platforms) to be able to port the AmiDARK Engine to platforms currently unsupported.

More to this, with my EHS, when I'm stressed (financial issues, etc.), it makes me have physical pain, amplifies stress, mental difficulties.
I can support small charges of electromagnetic waves (no wifi at home, no 3G and no 4G at home) so, if I'm not stressed concerning the upcoming days, I'll be more capable of coding...
Everything is linked and that's why I'm looking for the best solution for my family.

It can sometimes makes me going into 1 direction ... and few days ago, if a proposal or an idea help us financialy, it can makes me change direction ... Because it's urgent to find a solution now.

Regards,
AmiDARK

Hey, and the offer from WArMUp of one MacMini with one MorphOS licensed for a developer, do you think about it? you can develop the AmiDark for MorphOS not buying one MacMini and the MOS licensed.
And both you are from France.
Here the link to the site and the offer:

@Templario
I'm waiting for power2people to make it "online" :)
Once they've released it, I'll put the link there.

Concerning the MorphOS Licence and computer, it's a possible solution.
If I get it for free, it will lower some part of the bounty.

Kindest Regards,
AmiDARK

@AmiDARK

I'm sorry to hear of the problems, but it sounds like you are close to relief. And I'm happy to hear that the bounty amounts you have suggested would be helpful with that relief. I found myself without work or income a couple years ago myself, and I understand that kind of uncertainty can be stressful. I had thought that spending too much time with this project may have been a problem and you needed more time to spend with your family, which the bounty money would not have really helped with much, but it seems that time is not what you were concerned about. And thus I am happy to hear that participating in the bounty would not continue the problem. :)

@djrikki
Thank you :)

@BillT : yes, "recentring to my family" is needed if don't find solution to solve our problems. In fact, my english is not really "perfect" :p (I'm french) .. Maybe something like "I must recentrate myself to find a way to bring some money to my family to help us solve our financial problems" ... I did a shortcut by not saying this ...

Now we are less negative, we understand that we live what we must live to become stronger and these difficulties will not stop us! :)

Thank you all for your support.

Donation to bounty made! If I can afford more later, I will donate again.

Good luck with your personal search for jobs, for both you and your wife, and I look forward to seeing what other developers will do when AmiDARK Engine is released as Open Source.

Donation sent too, mostly by solidarity.

I'm a little bit curious too to see how you will adapt your Engine to the X1000 without Warp3D...

Courage for your real job research
