Not much, if anything.
I would much rather have the Commodore brand. _________________

No. That would not be the correct process.

| I bet its still worth at least a million if not more, just for the fact that it is a recognised brand in the IT/computer world. Example there are hundred of studios and developer who make apps now around the world for smartphone but they dont get much coverage or attention, just stick the Amiga brand on there, even if it has nothing to do with classic Amiga roots then suddenly a few news journal may cover it, thats worth something. Or just look at what happened with CommodoreUSA PC they built in a box, (not talking about the C64 replica I'm on about the mini mac PC clone they briefly made) hundreds of tiny PC are out there that get no or little coverage, you brand it with Amiga it gets you more press and may even allow you to up the price, again thats worth something. _________________ AmigaNG, YouTube, LeaveReality Studio |

There are plenty of Amiga branded products sales sites that fit that bill already.

And the Mini is currently claimed as part of the Amiga Games Inc. history, as opposed to CUSA history.

Zero value. If it still had value, there would still be commercial products based on it and companies earning some revenue from those products as well as ongoing research and development.
How much value is the IP to the Model T Ford worth these days?

Unfortunately there is no standard unit for Value; What I think it's worth will be very different to what McBill thinks it's worth. I seem to recall that not that long ago (2012-2013) Bill was quoted somewhere as asking $10M for it.
At the more reasonable end of the spectrum I could see how there could be $1M worth of stuff, and were I to have millions I would spend 1, possibly 2 to own the brand/IP. Even so, I'd think about it long and hard as there would be better ways to spend those couple of million.

| Sadly, the most valuable Amiga property is probably the amiga.com domain name which has potential for nefarious purposes involving latino women. The domain name could be worth tens of thousands of dollars. Buying the Amiga name and intellectual property would be risky because it's not clear who owns it. The transfer from "Amino" to "KMOS" may not be legal because of lack of quid pro quo. The Hyperion legal situation makes it an even bigger mess now. The legal fees to be sure of owning and paying the legitimate owners could be higher than the cost of buying the Amiga name and remaining assets.

| Bountytime?
How about kickstarter project where every participant get "Amiga", the name.
Or every participant get to be part of the "Amiga" license handling board / parlament. Community would then deside what is "Amiga" and what is not.
(project name could be: -end of the brainless "name" raping- ) Last edited by KimmoK on 16-Jul-2014 at 06:18 AM.

McBill is notoriously corrupt, I'd think very carefully before setting up any kickstarter and handing the cash over to him, even if you do manage to get hold of him (he never replies to emails). |

| I think the Amiga brand/Name/Assets are worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it. If you have an individual who believes they have the next best thing coming since the iPod, as an example, they'll be willing to shell out tons of money. You could also have the other end of the spectrum; a business person who only looks at statistics and market trends, not from the heart or because of what they knew and loved growing up with. Granted, you will have a tough time being a successful business person marketing only from the heart, but there are people out there who will still try. I look at the value from both sides. I'd look at the -
- Number of users existing and potentially who would use the product - Does the product meet people's wants and needs (Mostly wants nowadays) - Does it support existing users programs - What do people generally want as a whole and can I meet that demand - Could I possibly get some legacy software powerhouses back (Wishfull thinking but. . . ) Psygnosis, Cineware, Etc., to support the computer
After doing a little research and number crunching, I might be able to come up with a realistic number, but, it still comes down to what someone out there believes the Amiga Brand is worth. Then you still have this little nagging issue that keeps popping up; People seem to have a different view on what constitutes an Amiga nowadays. So this question posed, isn't necessarily an easy one to answer. Just my 2 cents though.

Yeah, let's do it! It'll be worth it just to get rid of those Amiga Inc and Commodore USA threads finally!!_________________ "Art challenges technology. Technology inspires the art." John Lasseter, Co-Founder of Pixar Animation Studios |
