@logicalheart

Hmmm I remember some some SAM model having particularly expensive RAM. Must have been SAM Flex then.

@Everblue

it is the 440ep series that uses some rams typical for printers and really uncommon.

@Everblue

It is old-standard ddr2 so dimm (laptop) ram which is easy to find.

Better would be that they used a (pin-compatible) dual core cpu for the upcoming 0S 4.2

Dual core? It is supposed to be cheaper, not more expensive =)

@Everblue
and it is supposed to come this year.
There is more demand (had several inquiries for SAM) and a lack of such HW.
Some people need prices below 1000€ to afford it.

@phoenixkonsole

1000 Euro is way over the top. I might consider one at half that price (for just the motherboard).

@phoenixkonsole

Actually it costs around 750 Euro.

https://acube-systemsbiz.serversicuro.it/shop/en/sam-motherboards/10-sam460ex.html

I hate Acube's habit to "forget" to include taxes until you are about to press the pay now button.

@AliveMOon

I doubt they are pin compatible. The newer chips have DDR3 and 2nd generation PCI-e interfaces.

@Rob

Received some confirmations. The board will be a reduced cost of the 460, probably may have or may not have an higher clock.

As soon as the minimig2 and the 460cr will be ready for the market, Acube will start working on something new, as they have already some nice ideas. This will take time, of course.

Thank god they have nice ideas of their own. Imagine they would come here for advice...

Hm, come to think of it: now my micro has gone to heaven c.q scrapyard, the case it was housed in is vacant. I really loved the case. Would not mind to find a miniATX board between ACube's offerings to replace the micro. But time will tell.

I am really interested in the new 460 Cheap Revision, but on the other hand it would be interesting to see what they have in mind as it comes to new projects.

Any word if Minimig Plus will come with AGA core?

The used FPGA should have enough resources to implement the AGA chipset, but the board ships with a (pumped) 68000 processor, so even implementing AGA it's very unlikely that AGA software runs on it.

Any news?

My Sam440ep s showing its age and a nice Sam460cr would fill the void nicely.
