@AmiDARK

>And everyone that DL the source code, if p2p did reject the bounty, you'll have to delete all copies otherwise your copy will be illegal.

What right do you have to tell people what files they must delete from their own machines!?

@AmiDARK

My changes could be just moved to a different branch, and the trunk can be rolled back to an earlier commit.

@Daytona

If i correctly remember, originally AmiDARK was simply talking of releasing the code as open source, there was no talk of leadership at that point. However, it was a wish from replies to that topic that people were wishing that AmiDARK would continue developing as having the leadership. I even somewhat recall that someone said he donated based upon AmiDARK continuing in leadership.

So if i correctly remember, it wasnt actually AmiDARK that simply took the leadership, but him taking the leadership based upon peoples wishes.

not taking sides here, just correcting this leadership part, supposing i remember correctly.

@Minuous

Well, depending upon how the wording have been done, but at least the spirit of the deal regarding code is that if p2p gets cancelled, then it would be illegal to keep the copy possibly (i guess, depending upon laws of the country you live in).

For as long as the wording was done right (which it might not have been), then the idea was that code was available for reviewing purposes to determine wether to release the bounty or not.

You could say that the code has a limited time licence. That while many products have for example 30 day trial, this has more vague, until p2p bounty is decided time trial.

If p2p bounty doesnt get released. Then naturally this review period is gone, and therefore codes that were given for review purpose, wouldnt be legal to be had anymore.

That basically if bounty gets released, there becomes a new license to the code. That instead of being time limited license, like now, it would become under open source license.

@Bugala
Take a look here, especially check out the quotes. That was what AmiDARK wrote and what raised my (valid) questioning, especially the point " is a non debatable/disputable requirement ". I said that such an important information should have been part of the bounty text.
While it may indeed be true that some (or maybe even most) donators are happy with that or knew it before: doesn't really matter, it's still not what the bounty text is about, it is still not what he's selling, simple as that.
But anyway: he changed that afterwards and it was okay.
Until now when he digged that out to falsely quote me once again etc. Won't repeat the whole story again

@BSzili
Yes, he could. Told him yesterday already that he could simply revert your changes (and increase the bug count by that again ).
He could also accept and fix bugs.
He could also change his general attitude.
He could also put his house in order first.
Lot's of conjunctive.

@Minuous
I'll keep all bug reports open for everybody nevertheless

@AmiDARK

You can point on any things you call "bug" and that only are linked for more than 75% of them to : Coding style, and unfinished project state
75%? Maybe in your dreams Sorry, but I suggest you count again.

@Bugala
In fact, it's not that point I mentioned :

@Minuous :
I an the legal owner of the source code as I CREATE IT MYSELF.
The code was released for "review" requested by Power2People.
Now :

1. If Power2People pay me, the code will become fully Open Source under MPL Licence
2. If power2People don't pay me, the code remain my OWN Property.

It's simply a principle of contract between me and Power2People concerning the bounty.
If the case 2 is used and someone keep a copy of the source and usesit ... It will be illegal.

The true problem is that the review is "public" that cause a break in the contract principle between Power2People and the person that ask for the bounty ... The review sould be done privately by coder doing the job for Power2People.

@All :
Problems is resolved.
Someone decided to retire his/her donation to the bounty.
No the bounty is lower than the required 1500€.
So .... It failed as the limit date was 31st Decembre 2014.

As the bounty failed :
1. The AmiDARK Engine will NOT BE released as MPL Open Source.
2. The AmiDARK Engine remain "closed proprietary source".
3. Everyone that own a copy of the AmiDARK Engine source code that was released "only for the review" requested by Power2People inside the Bounty validation procedure, must now delete all copies they own as the review is over.
4. Any use of part of the source code of the AmiDARK Engine itself is forbidden without written permission.

Regards,
AmiDARK

Sadly, not a unsuprising turn of events, considering all the noise this has generated.

I guess I halfway expected this system to be like kickstarter, as soon as the date hit, the money would be locked and the person(s) starting the kickstarter would get the money. I have been part of several "kickstarters" before, and no issue.

So I guess I will withdraw my funds too as a result of this.

Dissapointing end to this saga.

this may open the door for pascal buying it and developing it as commercial software as it was apparently an intention he announced. might though not benefit os4 if he removes support for that platform ;P..

@wawa

Well, if Pascal and AmiDark sees development thru then great stuff, OS4 or not.

I had no plans to withdraw until AmiDark cancelled the bounty cause it fell below the threshold.
The tragic part was that AmiDark was actually asked by people in the community to make a bounty.
So he basically did what we asked.

Oh well.

@Daytona675x

you remind me of a wolve chasing a animal or a bullterrier biting in the leg

the donators knew that they would not get anything useful and I can remember him being asked if he would continue with it and control development. Even though he is not a "genious" like you he would at least be interested. There are lots of abandoned Amiga projects around that have "decent" code but noone interested to do something at it. After what has happened I would personally understand if he gives a shit on the community and leaves.

Have a nice weekend and many of your " "

Some people believe they are invest in some sort of "divine" mission to "save the world" from itself.
They don't see that the only things they really do are so called : Destruction.
After all ...Maybe they're happy with that ...

Well, it's no loss really, as it was riddled with bugs. And since there is now no source code available for other coders to review, those bugs will be staying there.

Hopefully the money will now be used to open source something worthwhile instead...I'd suggest AmigaOS 3.9 and/or 4.1...

So you're able to speak for all the donators?

Yeah, having someone point out all the flaws in your own code can feel hard, especially if you're not willing to admit that your code has faults.
