@all

I think it is good to remember you that all the problems on the different eras were originated by bad management of the owners of the Amiga brand and/or OS. The only way to avoid that is to have an Amiga OS not controlled by closed and obscure companies, but the community.

Fortunately, this AmigaOS exists: it is called AROS because legally they couldn´t call it Amiga OS, but this is preciselly what it is: just a open source implementation of Amiga OS. Nothing less, and nothing more.

And while it still has its little flaws, it is very competent and functional already: support it and you will have the future of the Amiga platform secured, because it is starting to be clear now that it is the only one that will survive in the long term.

AROS people are neither "enemies" nor a different "camp", they are just Amiga users which once came to the conclusion that an open sourced Amiga OS avaliable to a wide range of different hardware of YOUR choice (even retaining some "reference" hardware" to help compatibility) was the best decision to secure the future of the platform.

Hope you come to that conclusion better sooner than later

I find it offensive that you are still using the "amiga-news" avatar as if you are a real "journalist".

About 90% of your claims are so blatantly wrong that you obviously did zero fact checking.

The mainstream press do it all the time and when they do try to get the facts they achieve it by hacking people's phones.

@Thread

Seems to me from the settlement in 2009 that Haage and Partner still had rights to OS3.9. They appear solvent and trading, how about if they reignited the development? OS3.9 final anyone?

@A1200

I should think any contracts with H&P would have been revoked during the Amithlon debacle.

@A1200,

I forgot to mention I mailed Amikit to see if they wanted to contribute to 3.9FE. He may be thinking on the idea.

@QuikSanz

Amikit or AmigaKit??

No offence to Amikit, but that "distro" is _way_ overloaded with stuff, IMO!!

Well, you wont end up in Court over bankruptcy if you got solid finances.

My guess is that Hyperion has been running at a loss from Day One, when they acquired the rights to continue developing and to distribute/sell AmigaOS4.x. I think that it has ALWAYS cost more to provide such development, than the income stream from selling AmigaOS4.x could pay back, so I also would guess that the principle owners of Hyperion (I use a plural term, just in case there is more than one person) put a minimum of their own money into the business to pay the bills they have. This may lead to one or more occasions where the Hyperion business bank account has been under funded for a period of time (we all have heard of allegations of contractors not being paid at one time or another).

If the above is true, it is also not hard to believe that if/when creditors are not paid on time, some of them may eventually file for relief through the court. If that court hearing is not attended (for what ever reasons), it is very likely that an automatic judgement against Hyperion could have happened.

I am guessing that someone (perhaps a 3rd party responsible for opening or forwarding mail) did not open, or forward the notice of this court proceeding, or that this is the excuse that someone is using, for the current circumstances.

All of this is just pure speculation on my part, so it is no more valid than any of the other assumptions and allegations being made by several forum members. I still suggest that everyone just relax and see what happens. Hopefully more information will be released soon, so this incident will not hurt current sales for Hyperion, AmigaKit, A-Eon, and all other distributors of AmigaOS4.1FE, and/or Amiga compatible hardware.

@kolla,

Amikit has many resources I believe that library could contribute. A low end and high end version for 060 or better. Some of these would be useful on a good FPGA.

Thanks Pavlor. I suppose it will be so long as I'm allowed to speak freely without getting censored by Hyperion, AEON or AmigaKit.

Am I allowed to say my phone is faster and more capable than the x1000 here? (Because it is)

We are on what is essentially the house organ for A-eon. This is the best place to wait for any real news.
As for purchasing, again I say, why buy Hyperion when buying Amiga Inc., at what must be a bargain rate, would insure the OS licence and tech remained in-house for always?

What's Hyperion needed for at all?

Their exclusive (and nontransferable?) licence to distribute AmigaOS.

Well "needed" shouldn't by taken literal in matters OS4 offcourse

You may ask Bill McEwen - his demands in this regard were usualy beyond realm of reality.

However, buying Amiga.Inc will not help you as worth assets (for us - like original OS source codes, AmigaOne and AmigaOS names etc.) are licenced to Hyperion. You may read September 30 2009 Settlement Agreement for more details about situation between those two companies.

Hi Everyone!

Okay, well the only thing I have to say is that it is time to get the OS and the Hardware under the same roof. Time for Trevor to run the show. However, if Hyperion is okay, then lets keep moving on, I have not been unhappy with them at all, I love OS 4.1.

Maybe I can actually get my hands on a used Amiga X1000 at a good price (LOL), hey, if you want to jump ship, drop me an email, I would love to take your X1000 off your hands at a good price, in fact I need two of them. LOL It is almost impossible to get an AmigaOne of any flavor second hand, I wonder why that is the case?

IIU the SA C, the licence *is* transferable. Hopefully the curator can sell it to someone continuing distribution and development of OS4.
