So, you'd like a bench that cripples a primary advantage that MorphOS has over OS4? But our 3D drivers are 'laughable'?
When both OS' were primarily used with R200 cards, we had a lead. Accelerated drivers for the R300 series are available for our OS (as are drivers for the R400). Since most MorphOS systems have an AGP graphics slot, these cards (the last ATI cards to feature native AGP support) are a good match for our hardware.
The R500 series requires a bridge chip for AGP use that slows these cards down. As PCIe MorphOS systems become more common (the SAM460 is the first, the X5000 the second), the X500s, in particular the X1900GT to X1950XTX, will become more popular.
As to the HD Radeons, I can wait. I don't have a PCIe based MorphOS system yet. And, since I'm familiar with the individuals working on those drivers, I'm confident they will kick ass when introduced.
What we need, is a PCIe system with more power than a SAM460 to justify expending the effort.
OS4 users have the X1000, we need the X5000 (or possibly the PCIe G5).
Our developers have X5000 systems, even equipped with only an X1950XT these perform great.
But we seem to be in a holding pattern waiting for Hyperion to finish the OS4 port for the X5000. No OS4, no X5000s for sale (and the boards are obviously ready).
You guys have a good RadeonHD driver, but you are in the same boat we are (unless you bought an X1000 like my friend AmigaDave).
We need a relatively powerful system to run the HDs in. |

Well, that will prove interesting. Benchmarks against G4 systems are already pretty underwhelming.
A 2.5 GHz Quad G5 would obviously dust an X5000.
But the X5000 is new and there is no PCIe G5 support for MorphOS (let alone OS4), so lets not rush to beat up on the X5000. |

I have no clue how to run it in SW mode, there is nothing in options about that.. Any idea?
EDIT: which version do you want me to test in SW mode? Last edited by pampers on 18-Jan-2016 at 04:42 PM. Last edited by pampers on 18-Jan-2016 at 04:40 PM.

As far as I know, only Quake (1) has software mode, there are rare Quake 2 ports with software mode (by NovaCoder or Hyperion) and none such of Quake3. |

Check if there is a software render quake mos native .. In any way there are the ppc.library ports for old amigaos 3.9 fully compatible with mos ppc.library was did by Ralph 20 years ago
If my calcs are true probably on mos you will have from 128 to 130 fps at 640x480x8 on X5000 ... if better will be for me much more wonderful Last edited by tlosm on 18-Jan-2016 at 06:17 PM. Last edited by tlosm on 18-Jan-2016 at 06:15 PM.

NDA for quake 1 results? lol.
That benchmark makes no really sense since we cannot use the same port on all platforms. |

I have to ask if i can share but are really positive there. (little less than the G5 ) My intention is test Linux PPC quake on 5020 Last edited by tlosm on 19-Jan-2016 at 06:45 PM.

If this is affected by potential MorphOS/OS4 comparisons try to assure those who control your NDA that we don't really expect to see a big gap between those.
Now an accelerated comparison when OS4 has full Radeon HD support and MorphOS only supports acceleration up to the X1950XTX?
That would be a lot more treacherous. Last edited by iggy on 19-Jan-2016 at 08:32 PM.

i think the devs of Mos have to better understand the hardware of X5000 and optimize better the 5020. when it will done the cpu performances will not differ from os4. the video acelleration is another thing.i think more os will run on x5000 better wil be for all us. I loose hope to see Mos on Quad G5 Last edited by tlosm on 19-Jan-2016 at 08:47 PM.

You are more of an optimist than I am in that regard. The X5000 isn't likely to drive too many MorphOS key sales, and as you have pointed out we could port to the Quad G5 (I'd love to see PCIe G5 support as we have the potential to use more advanced video cards than Apple supported).
But if that port does get done, it would make for a very interesting comparison.
The real battle over cpu power will occur when OS4.2 has SMP. Dual and Quad core processors? If PPC MorphOS doesn't adopt SMP support, we can only hope the X64 fork will be nearing completion, because at that point... |

yes ... i think this too . not because morphos but i dont think the x5000 will sell more than 500 units ... best way 250 mos keys 250 for Os4 license ..
if they sell more and more ... will happy for Trevor and other guys of AeonLast edited by tlosm on 19-Jan-2016 at 09:00 PM.
