@miggymac

Did you utilize a previous 4.1 installation or did you install it from scratch?

In the latter case: How did you achieve this?

I couldn't manage to successfully boot (not to mention install) 4.1 FE under AF 2016.

I followed the steps as described by Cloanto, but then the emulation still wanted to boot from the pre-configured HDF instead (which is not a DOS disk, obviously). While going via the Early Startup menu by keeping both mouse buttons instead I could actually boot from CD, but couldn't get beyond the point PPC emulation starts.

I.e. the CD boots initially, until there is the pink screen and the requester popping up that due to the switch to PPC emulation, some WinUAE features won't be available anymore. After confirmation, there is a short flicker with lots of colours, but then the pink screen remains forever.

System: Win 7/64, AMD Phenom II X4 955, 3.2 GHz, MSI 770-C45 mainboard, Nvidia GeForce GT 630

Type avail in CLI and you will se how much Fast RAM is really available. I fear it is only SWAP we use for 1+ year already.

Edit: Linked picture shows no paggers available. So either SWAP is not set in startup-sequence, or...

I did both, and both worked. First i used my working hdf-file built with WInUAE, which was already configured with RTL-network-card and ES soundcard. It just worked, i just removed the preconfigured hdf in the preferences and took my hdf as "external file". In the second run, i created a hdf-file (rdb) within amigaforever as DH0:, took the bootdisk.adf and my OS 4.1 FE iso image as DF0: and CD0:. With this config i could install AmigaOS 4.1 FE. After the reboot, i had some troubles with the boot priorities, the emulator just started again from CD0. So i had to remove the cd-image and assigned it again after reboot. Then i could install the extras.
I must say, Amigaforever is really fast, faster than with my "normal" WinUAE config.
What i also recognized: When i use -just say- 512MB or less ZorroIII-Ram, its shown in soqconfig as extra card, ... Don't know, whats going on.

I got the same behaviour when trying to boot from an very large hdf (i use = 1GB. I also think its good to create an hdf with rdb. This way, you can set up the disk with media toolbox, use SFS0 as filesystem. after a reboot, you should be able to format the disk when you run the installation wizard. Did you use any virtual UAE devices such as shared folders etc? try to turn these off, WinUAE (and so amigaforever) can't utilize them. Flickering and raibow colors, also a short pink screen seem to be normal, but after some seconds you should see the AmigaOS boot logo.

@WeiXing3D

There is a 'boot floppy.ADF' on the OS 4.1 FE CD that must be inserted into DF0: (make a copy of the 4000 PPC configuration first).

There's better instructions on amiga-news.de

1 GB+ RAM in PowerPC emulation

That doesn't mean it's available as Fast RAM to OS4.1. Remember PowerPC was available under OS 3.x as well, and that could already use 1GB RAM under WinUAE.

@Daedalus

Thanks for the correction.

Really, it was wishful thinking. A screenshot of 'ShowConfig' (is that the name?)
I saw online caught my eye. One line read in the memory section "(Cloanto)" 64k.
Somehow I had hoped it was a magic enabler for more memory...
