@g01df1sh

Most of Amigaboing's games have demo versions so it would make sense to include them on the store.

It would be good for A-EON to offer feature restricted version of their own software as it becomes available. A feature restricted version of Cinema 4D was enough convince me to buy the full program later on when I could afford it.

Any chance to automatically logged-in when you launch the tool?

@Phantom

That would be handy.

Another thing I really need to get off my chest which I am starting to find annoying is the amount of 'TBA' items listed. I would buy the radiance package now if it was available. I am also hanging for a version of Warp3D which works with my Radeon HD 6800 card. I am finding that things like this a limiting me from spending more money on my Amiga ;)

Would it be better if they were in a separate section and did not appear in the main list?

@Rob

(this reply turned out to be more long winded than intended as well as what some people might consider 'ranty' than initially intended but I tried to keep it to the point so apologies in advance)

Putting it in its own separate section doesn't really deal with the problem at hand.

Initially I wasn't worried and was of the mindset that if the software is literally around the corner and almost ready for release then it would be a good idea in a number of circumstances to let people know that it is almost ready. Some of them definitely perked up my interest.

Advertising wise, I can understand dangling the carrot. It gets people interested, excited and revved up but if you leave it dangling there to long, they start to get frustrated, lose interest and then move on (and/or complain).

Take this real world example of the other day. I added the Radeon HD v2.x driver to the cart and then looked at the Radiance package _again_ and realised there were a number of items in it that I was also interested in it and a few of cursory interest as well but it was still not available. Also take into account I have a Radeon HD 6800 Graphics card in my X1000 (the one it was supplied with when purhchased) and the fact that Warp3D is not available for it at this point in time. All these things combined made me decide to _again_ put off purchasing any of the items and move onto something else.

I live in the real world and understand that the Amiga for most people is now classified as a 'hobby' system and a lot of the work is done in peoples spare time, be it MorphOS, AROS and AmigaOS4. I work in IT, keeping things realistic is a struggle at times, I get it but when you start 'advertising' items to the general public like this, you are basically telling them that it is 'almost' ready and then when it takes another year to deliver, it starts to get annoying.

Sure, advertise items which have been acquired in a news announcement. Information like that is great for the community to know on a number of levels. Advertising items in a store used to purchase software for a rather extended amount of time as TBA may not be the best idea or approach.

@vrana

Good post above!

I tend to think about TBA in Amistore like Pre-orders in Steam for example. Its something you can watchlist or purchase before completion.
I guess the main difference is that on steam there is a set releasedate you can relate to.
For example Homeworld - Desert of Kharak is set to be released 20 January 2016, can be pre-ordered and you know it can be downloaded at that date.

I just dont know a good option for Amistore tho.
Half of the programs that are TBA would be forgotten after a few months if it wasnt listed there.
As it is now, that list keeps potential customers aware, querying Aeonkit about progress once in a while, and "pressure" on themselves to deliver as soon as they can with the resources available.

So, Im leaning towards a more positive view of keeping them TBA, but I can defintly see the annoying aspect of it.

@K-L

it seems you were mainly flamed by Pavlor

Pavlor is a "BAF" (Blind Amiga Follower)

It is not his fault, he cannot act different

Yes I only read the first two pages before the typical "suspicious" popped in

do you not know first law?

"any critisizm (or advice/question) regarding Hyperion/Amigakit/Aeon is heavily forbidden and is immediately punished"

why are people taking a hobby so serious

Thats silly.

If you pull the "hobby" card, why be bothered by "TBA"?

No-one was punished.

K-L posted his opinion and some people disagreed with it, posting their opinions.

IMO K-L should take a good look into the mirror before accusing anyone else of flaming given some of his responses to perfectly reasonable posts.

Agree, this would be nice.

"TBA in its own category", this would be nice too.

@salass00

What an aggresive tone too. I'll just include you with other posters.

And criticism is part of the debate, sorry if you cant't get along with this. I've spent lot of time and money to promote AmigaOS 4.1 in France (and French speaking countries) and am still doing so.

I think I'm in my right to criticize ONE point of ONE software sometimes without having some people like you coming and insult me.

I'm using (and have paid for) the excellent softwares from Lyle (Nemo sound) and Broadblues (Sketchblock and fractals) even though I got flamed by both of them when I raised this simple TBA topic. I have nothing against them, nor anyone else. I have just asked ONE simple question regarding ONE software.

Yes, indeed, I'm using Amistore, that's true. But in your opinion, it seems that I should be all grateful and just keep my mouth closed when I think somoething is wrong??

Salass: are you also a BAF??

And anyway, was that SIMPLE question answered by anyone?

fair point. since the latest version of amistore seems to allow for 'sale' banners on the icons of software on sale, perhaps adding a 'TBA' banner would help here. or indeed have a separate 'coming soon' section.

i'd very much like to keep the TBA items in the store, personally, since it lets me know what's coming, just like the old days when i'd get a catalog from a retailer. but it would also be nice to have some way of knowing what's currently available for download/purchase and what will be in the future without having to click on the title icon.

just my humble opinion, of course. folks are welcome to disagree.
