HI,

with a delay of round about 2 years we will release the indieGO! gaming console in 1st quarter 2016. Meanwhile we switched from i386 to ARM.
It is possible to get systems based on Raspberry Pi2, Odroid C1 and Odroid Xu4.

The switch to ARM results in a price reduction from 300 to 120€ : )
The system comes in a nice mini case including a DVD-RW.
It is powered by indieGO!-OS (a fork of AEROS -> visible in desktop mode),
compatible to Windows. Comes with a App Store (yep indieGO! Appstore ; ) )
25GB cloud storage and internal 16gb in the basic version..
It can be expanded with SD-cards or S-ATA Harddrive... BOOM!

The indieGO! console will play games for Gameboy (GB,GBC,GBA), Playstation, SNES, NES, Genesis, C64, AmigaCD32 original CD's and more..

Also it will run your favorite PC-DOS games and Windows Games. It offers Steam streaming compatibility and kodi for Media Playback...

Boom! Badaboooom!
Oh... and Broadway68k for AmigaOS compatibility is included as well ; )
In the price is a Controller included.. you can also order a barebone case with holder and i/o shield for Raspberry Pi, Odroid C1, Odroid U2/U3 or Odroid XU4

A video can be seen here:

@phoenixkonsole

Not a terrible concept, although I already have several Android boxes which can do pretty much all of the above (apart from CD32) for about half the price. Granted, I'd need to pay extra for a DVD drive but who even uses those anyway?

Android boxes are, however a PITA to set up so, if this works out of the box without a load of fiddling, and has a nice UI, I might actually be convinced to pick one up.

What other options are there for media playback? Kodi's UI is just awful.

I kind of object to it being referred to as a CD32 successor, though. It doesn't really share anything in common with the CD32!

@pleng
What it has in common with a cd32 is:
Aeros roots in Amiga land : )
It runs cd32 original cd's (I am collector and having one station for all cd/DVDs based things is nice)

If I would take about 25gb cloud storage, exagear which costs also on android extra, Jim power and the piano version and aeros I would say the price comes next to a android device.
If I remove slim drive and necessary adapter it could be on par.

But from my pov it would be better because it is expandable and you can boot into android as well.

@cdimauro
It depends.. If you take a odroid xu4 it would be faster than a G5 quad ...

You can check geekbench browser to compare them.

Pi2 vs G5 quad
http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/compare/2578703/2536325

Odroid xu4 vs G5 quad
http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/compare/2570553/2578703

All clips used in the video show the pi2 performance.
All arm soc's have hardware video en-/decoders.

@cdimauro
Yep I know... Since you are a technical guy I thought "Numbers don't lie."

Are you interested in speed based on pi2 or odroid ?
It matters.

With pi2 you can play games which worked on 386/486dx (dos) (gta for example)
Windows games are faster and you can reach quad core pentium (mmx and sse)@300-700mhz performance

With a odroid xu you can play all dosgames from the past and play Windows games like counter strike (half life 1). (OpenGL wrapper is underway)

Things like fallout, Diablo 2, age of empires and heroes of might and magic 3 work well on a pi2.
Skype works well now also with Audio (got a new exagear version for aeros)

Winfellow works good on pi2 and like on any PC on odroid

@phoenixkonsole: the problem of such solution is that they are cheap, so you get what you paid for at the end. Old games...

But the main problem is that the market is really in oversaturated, and you can find a lot of solutions at very cheap price, offering a lot more.

Take a look at the x86 offer here. You can run a lot of games and software. Of course, you cannot expect to run the latest, AAA, games, because the integrated resources aren't enough, but for sure many things of the recent past can be used.

That's because you don't need any x86->ARM emulation layer here. You go native, and take as much as possible, even for emulators, because JIT's are available primarily for this architecture.

I think that you've to better ponder the platform to get, according to your target. For a new "console" which is particularly focused on emulators, ARM isn't the best solution.

My 2 cents.

That doesn't really make it a successor, but anyway...

I have 1Tb storage with Dropbox and a 4Tb OwnCloud server so the 25Gb storage is of little use to me, really! I don't know what exagear is.

You should really think about doing a version without an optical drive, then. Seems like an unnecessary expense for most people.

This is indeed a bonus. Will you be supplying dual-boot configurations? Or does the Odroid allow booting from SD card? I seem to remember some of their devices allowed that. I have a lot invested in Android so I need the device sitting under my TV to be capable of running it.

I am actually quite interested. I've often thought about toying with an Odroid or Pi but could never be bothered with the hassle of building and configuring one. I'd need to see the gaming interface first, though. The video only shows Kodi (yuk) and the desktop interface.

Hi,
A barebone version will be available. Most people wish a plug and play solution
The os will be available stand alone..

You can't compare amicloud with Dropbox
1. Dropbox exists since years and their basic account is far less than 25gb (there is no monthly fee)
2. We have unlimited traffic
3. We have clients for aros Amigaos and morphos

Since we will release new cd32 games and you can buy and store games in the indieGO store which can than be played on all supported systems it is different.

Give us 5 years and than compare us with Dropbox ; )

Edit:
About dual / multi boot:
Yep it is supported on all platforms and we will provide images.

Have you asked 'most people' what they want? I can't imagine that 'most people' would want an optical drive these days.

I'm not trying to compare the two. I'm saying that I have no need for AmiCloud so therefore there's no cost advantage (your argument was that it offsets the cost compared to an Android box; well it doesn't if it's not needed in the first place).

Yes I understand it's different. But I have yet to see the UI - this will most likely be the deciding factor to if I make a purchase or not.

Interesting stuff!

If it's all Plug n Play I would consider buying this system.

BTW, I recall a 'Walker' case clone with a little LED display. Is this the same or
a different system?

Hi,
the Walker mini Needs extra love because I've announced a "configurator" to choose between different bottom and top-parts : )

From what is inside it is the same. Broadway68k(inclued in next AEROS) will allow you to boot directly into a 68k Environment (optionally).

So the walker is more like a Desktop Computer for Amiga geeks.. and the indieGO! is Primary targeted at Gamers.. but you can Change the Software side at any time.

Also the walker will be done on limited numbers.. Because it is Handwork and quite expensive with quite few till no Revenue : )

It is more a fun Project.

@phoenixkonsole

It's very nice, though technically it's not a successor as it doesn't supersede the CD32.
More accurately described as a CD32 replacement.

Hi,
Thank you this is indeed better : )

Btw it is live since yesterday night...
20% backed already.

I will try to add more software goodies to the basic package in the next weeks depending on success.
