I would like see improvements to the guide format, more interaction especially if I wanted to create a Q/A form or tutorial or a quiz with hidden answers if button pressed to reveal/decode each / all answers.

Also wish Hyperion make the OS more abstract, so all Amiga like APis can be merged to compatible functions and remove direct access to structures or need for casts -where more time is wasted on compatibility & bug finding than developing software.

It looks like real progress on AmigaOS API is stalled, developers are limited to what they can do if the OS is not properly coded using state of the art algorithms & safe C & secure coding practices / guidelines.

If A-Eon and Hyperion are serious about the Amiga community they would consult with Carl Sassenrath under contract to add multi core processing into the Operating System. Its not rocket science guys.

The lack of real AmigaOS core improvements is starting to get insulting.

@asymetrix

Please be aware that A-EON can only work and develop the codebase that is owned by A-EON.

Everything in the Enhancer Software has been written from the ground up or commercially acquired. Therefore the Amiga Developer team is able to work on it and freely release on our own schedule.

Some years ago Hyperguide (part of the Hyper Datatype System ) was acquired by A-EON so that is being further developed and will become part of the Enhancer Software at some point. AmigaGuide documents will then searchable through Multiviewer and other enhancements will be available.

You are assuming that Carl is even remotely interested in doing this kind of work?

@amigakit

Would it be possible to mimic the look of the OS (4.x) gadgets? For example, the Cycle Menu looks different.

Or is this something I've overlooked?

Thanks

Regards,
Kotler

@Kotler

Hi

This is what the gadgets look like on OS3 (see below). You can indeed skin them to make them look like OS4 using GUI Prefs.

Do you mean like HTML+Javascript?

/duck&run

In all seriousness, I hate HTML+Javascript+CSS. Well, actually, I think pure HTML is great. The problem came about when they hacked in Javascript...

To me, wouldn't it be great if the Amiga platform created it's own web-page rendering language that didn't require 3 different forms of scripting to work?

Markdown fits the bill perfectly. Human readable textfiles with minimal rules for formatting. What's not to love?

Hello,

I am pleased to confirm that Amiga Developer Network Team member, Guillaume has been working on Updater utility recently with some good results.

Once a file is downloaded from AmiSphere server, there is information regarding the update contained in a summary window.

Updater now shows the summary of details about the source file and local destination file covering information such as version, size and paths.

It will also warn the user if they are downgrading a file which is newer already stored locally.

Icons are now included and handled in the same window so Updater does not need to prompt user a second time about the downloading and overwriting an existing .info file.

Thank you Guillaume for enhancing this utility. Updater will be available in the forthcoming Enhancer Software update.

@amigakit

Is there any progress on a gadtools version of Amistore and are there any plans to integrate payment into Amistore rather than having to launch a web browser to do so?

@Rob

There is a new version of AMIStore for Enhancer Software which has a credit card GUI. This is being beta tested internally now. This does not use GadTools but it utilises the new gadets and classes from the Enhancer Software.

Users without the Enhancer Software will also have an updated AMIStore soon, but this still needs a browser for final payment .

It has been a busy development period for the AmigaDeveloper Network Team. Here is more development news to share for the forthcoming Enhancer Software update:

X-Dock v2 has now a new DockApp API which lets it run programs within the docks.

Andy has been busy recently adding a new Radeon DockApp which reports the old P96 memory (limited to only 256Mb) and the new Radeon 64-bit memory which Warp3D Nova and selected other Enhancer Software components use.
