Entwickler-X kindly provided a small demo for me to run with Warp3D Nova - it is early days but looks promising. _________________ Amiga Kit Amiga Store Links: www.amigakit.com | New Products | A600GS |

| When they talk about software dev for amiga. Why is'nt there any real efforts to get some good software like:
- Vlc (video player) - Any web browser from Mozilla Org.
If these could be ported then I think there would be more interest in Amiga as a platform guess the whole idea is to sell more hardware but how can they do that when there is no software to run on it. ?
For me a long time fan of amiga I have ZERO intrest in Amiga OS 4.x and why:
Price
software
So for me I prefer to continue restoring Classic Amiga and install vampire.
X1000 or x5000 that cost about 10 or 20 times what I would pay for classic amiga when they was new.

The AmigaDeveloper.com Team is concurrently developing selected software for OS4 and OS3 - there will be an Enhancer Software OS3 edition too.

Why not invest in port of software for making : Sample editor (Audacity) or paint (paint.net) or vector editor (inskape) or other??
this is what is most lacking on Amiga OS4
can even be commercial software ? Last edited by sinisrus on 28-Jul-2016 at 04:52 PM.

This kind of software is not at all lacking on OS4, Audio Evolution outstrips Audacity by several orders of mangnitude IMHO (if you were asking for Ardour you might have point). There is also SFX and HD-Rec which whilst 68k run very well on OS4.
Paint wise we have native PPAInt from A-Eon, SketchBlock by myself, and ImageFX is also available.
There are some vector editors out there too.

I agree with you that these are important, and we will do everything we can within resources, but the pressing problem is that foundations need to be solid and complete before building the house.
For example, I would like to overhaul the ImageFX GUI for the next release, but we need a common set of libraries, gadgets and classes on both OS3 and OS4 which we can develop and adapt over the coming years as we raise the standard of the applications to bring them into line with what users consider as the norm on other platforms. There are numerous other cases where this applies and it is best not to rely on other parties to provide the foundations we need.

At least in the U.S. the Amiga 3000's & 4000's were more expensive than either the Amiga One X1000 or X5000, especially if you take inflation into account. There is a need for more software though. Odyssey is pretty good (but needs to be updated regularily. As for video between MPlayer & DvPlayer quite a lot of video content can be played. _________________ - BCP AmigaOne X1000 & Amiga 4000

Speaking of ImageFX is the old OS3 version available for purchase from AmigaKit? I purchased the last version several years ago, but one of my install disks is corrupted. Is there any way I can get a new set?

Right. PPaint 7.1 works good in OS4, best paint application for low colour needs. |

PPaint 7.3 works even better and is native for both OS4 and OS3. _________________ OS4 Rocks X1000 beta tester, Sam440 Flex (733)

Well, no. There is some weird bug limiting PPaint 7.3 (OS4) to 2 MB Chip RAM even on RTG screens. Until this is fixed I stay with 7.1. |

I hope that "norm" will not be overreacted. Only that is norm on other platforms doesn't surely make it better at the same time.
If that is the goal to make our ground to '"norm", from one point there will be no reason the stick to it.Last edited by Lazi on 28-Jul-2016 at 09:04 PM.
