8.1 works under Basilisk though

Maybe, but it currently only emulates 680x0 not PowerPC on AmigaOS.

@NutsAboutAmiga & Pavlor

I know that 9.x works under QEMU, feels like the effort to port that instead of just SheepShaver would be much more rewarding in the end IMO.

@Develin
is really hard for describe it for my bad english but i will try.
Nope on Os4 no Sheepshaver at all this because it need special mmu and memory pages in kernel.
OsX and Linux have it ... on X86 shapeshaver work in emulation and this make the shapeshaver work without this memory "patch".
Probably if some one "patch" the ng kernel or make an option about ... like was the mac emul patch on Classic ... we can play with it.

In any way on OS9 there are many fun , games and great productive software ...

Qemu ... is not compatible with os9 ... and in any way is slow

Why e500, given the X3500 has been canceled?

Yes, we need to virtualize the memory, so the two operating systems can co-exist, basically move MacOSX + X bytes into a safe address space.

That sounds suitable for an OS4 like version of Mac-On-Linux. Something I would have liked to see. I've since stopped trying to compile it on OS4. I only got up to the point of compiling the configurator anyway.

So it looks like the "MachSpeed" project I had started, my working title for an OSX runner for OS4, will be relegated to running direct on the hardware. If I continue to develop ideas for it. OS4 just tends to get in the way so it's best to reboot into Linux.

Now if OS4 can be virtualised to run on Linux that could be the best of three worlds.

@rewarp coders
About old 3d games using warp
Warp3d v5 (Os4) and v4(os3) are not 100% compatible
... So even is rewarp is 100% perfect you may encounter
some problems with those games
Better then to test with wazp3d (software mode) to check if problem come from rewarp or warp3d

@Thread

I would like to show you some pics from
internal reWarp testings done on a X1000.

After Dennis pumped life into reWarp I tested one
of the first WarpOS programs "VoxelEngine" under
AmigaOS4.1FE.
You can find it in the original WarpOS5 distribution on Aminet.

Well what can I say.......it flysssssssss!!!!!

VoxelEngine

What you can see is a highres voxel terrain running a smooth 30fps @ 1600x1200.
Even switching ON-THE-FLY to the JIT-68K Emulator of OS4.1 works great.

I even tried crazy stuff - Have a look:

CRAZY

Next test I've done was FlashMand WOS

FlashMand and a happy guy

Quake1 WOS (Frank Wille's Port) rendered by CPU
Resolution 1280x1024 @ 33FPS

Quake1 WOS

The latest stage of reWarp development even initialized Warp3D!!!
For my test cases I used Wazp3D as suggested by the author.

BlitzQuake 5.6 aka GLQuake

There is still a lot of work to do but it looks very promising.

C'Ya
z! Erec

@samo79

I am trying to install HereticII and I am able to do it (installing also the required library: ixemul.library, installer and wizard.library) but I have a GR at the end of installation process when it asks me the registration code..

I did a crashlog file with GR but I don't know how to read and understand the crashlog.. any hint where to start?

Grim Reaper is for developers, not for users. If you cannot code, all you can do is report crash log to the developers, who is making the programs.

You need to have exe file compiled with symbols so you can locate crash in function name, (so called stack trace) if you’re a C coder, if you understand PowerPC assembler you can look at disassemble part. I recently tried to click on Registers in register list and found that Hex dump changed memory address; this might be useful on lookup tables and so on.

Anyway there is the ISI and DSI, that hints on what type of crash, "D" is for Data, and "I" for Instruction, basically bad memory access or illegal instruction, illegal instruction are not a problem as they can be emulated in the future, bad memory access can be result of poorly emulated instruction. (Illegal instruction can be also be result of jumping into a bad memory address.)

Again unless you are a developer you can't do anything about it.

My guess is that PA6T does have all instruction for 601/604 PowerPC.

Programs often crash because the developer did not check if assets / resources / files was loaded or not, a better program to investigate these problems are snoopy (formally called SnoopDOS).

It can also be library, class that fails to load due to wrong version or missing.

Start snoopy before you start the program, and a log all file opens, font opens, and so on.

True. Anything using the old "indirect" mode will fail. Some of the "incompatibilities" are actually historic driver bugs, and some drivers have a bunch of ENV vars to workaround those issues. I remember seeing a table somewhere for the right settings for various games, but I can't find it.

That said, I played Wipeout on my A1-XE + Radeon 9000 pro years ago, so that one should work (and yes, that was with Warp3D itself).
