@Nicsoft

Does that make a Pegasos2 running AmigaOS 4.1 an Amiga?

@iggy

I think it's fair to say that you're welcome to call whatever device you use to get your Amiga fix from, an Amiga.

I do not know, maybe its me, but do we need that Libreoffice at all, while it will be again that "alien slug gui app", wich bugs which will be hard to fix ?

Imho, and only imho, it was better from begining to aeon support/deal/sponsor desler with his editor.

But i hope to be wrong and libre on aos will be mui-or-reaction based, fast, and bugs will be fixed in the updates which will come one after another (unpossible, yes:) )

It is definitely you. If Amiga should be usable again in the future at least a bit, LibreOffice is great choice no matter what GUI is used to port it.

I guess the GUI wont be native coz LO use own Visual Components Library and only file requesters use to be native.

Lets face it. Our community have no manpower to develop office package compatible with the world (and no, RTF is not enough, really).

@ExiE

Even LibreOffice is not fully compatible with MS formats.

Now, Amiga-like OSs can use web-office services (not all features of desktop versions are supported), AmiCygnix apps (OS4; only basic MS compatibility) or original MS Office under emulation (AROS "x86"/DosBox/Windows 95).

@Thread,

Terminils will probably finish "Final Office" before this is done and may become the standard

LOL, that was quite lame argument. You can even say Microsoft Office is not fully compatible with Microsoft Office.
Still LO is compatible enough. What the hell Open Format is standard on its own adopted by various governments over the world as platform independent open format for data storage.

web-office services - you need to be connected all the time, it suxx.

AmiCygnix - used to be quite slow not sure how is it now, but it means just AbiWord and Gnumeric. LO or MS office packages are much more...

original MS office - I am not sure what version it is but if you need to work with newer MS office xml based formats you need at least Office XP/2003 with compatibility pack. Office XP require win98/NT4.0 as minimum.

Even so I am watching Final Office development and probably will buy it once it is ready, I really don't think FO format can become standard. Ever. It can become popular over the Amiga compatible platforms but that is all.

Are you sure we both live in the same country?

Exactly.

Of course. Text editor with mainstream world compatibility would be bare minimum, at least for me.

Word 97-2003 format is still used (and supported by MS applications). MS Office 97 works well on Windows 95 (and under DosBox).

For me it is important to load my own work home and in office. So used format must be MS Office compatible (not meaning only MS format here).

His or yours?
He's right.
It isn't completely compatible.

Its close enough for me as I rarely transfer documents.
But when I do receive Word documents, depending on which version the file was written with it does not always load correctly.

So instead of being snide...

Sorry my ignorance, but would be that Calligra suite would be much faster to port?

It has all the needed featues, less denpecies and most of them are already porte to amiga.

Less dependencies? It's built on the KDE Platform.

@QuikSanz

Libre Office is known to be resource hungry so at least on slower hardware it might not really run fast enough so a "amiga" solution is better suited there. We will see when it is available
