Some implementations of Minimg have it, together with a built in frame buffer for "HiRes" flicker free video.

@Thread

Does anyone know if this relaxed A1200 will still allow me to use my mediator & Apollo 060 set-up?

Will any of the kind improvements be noticeable using this hardware as well?

Excellent News. I ordered two of the new Kickstarter Amiga 1200 cases.

I'm still criticising the original A500/A1200 cases, they are only suitable for original board, they don't bring you a new keyboard or give you anything new and original cases are still available as spare parts.

Amiga keyboard cases where on of the reasons why no one took Amiga serious.

The DCE/Power Computing A5000? Were any prototype motherboards ever made or was it just a case and some specs on paper?

No, I was referring to the new high end PPC from AEon. I don't pay as much attention to amiga stuff these days (amiwest is the main reason for me being here now) so I probably got the name wrong.

That's really irrelevant.

Someone has taken the initiative to extend the life of older hardware by replacing it at a reasonable price with new components. Clearly they identified the need, invested the time and money and have a legitimate product to offer.

And that's not to say that if this effort turns out to be a success that they couldn't re-engineer the hardware and package it up as something more compelling by 2016 standards.

The important point is that they did something that will help users resurrect ratty old systems and increase awareness - for that they should be applauded.

Minimg == emulation

Now big deal getting beyond limitations here.

Well given the Natami hasn't exactly made it to market he practically has no competition.

Apart from the Vampire which looks like it will win the AGA upgrade wars with its SAGA.

Nice!

Edit: Good name even without Amiga part (thread title is misleading...).

It's using the real Amiga AGA chips.
It's using real 68k CPU's.
It's using the real Amiga Kickstart.
No emulation seen anywhere, real hardware all the way, real Amiga chips, and the real 68k Kickstart/Workbench as well.

Put it in one of the new A1200 cases (endorsed by Bill McEwen of Amiga Inc.) with the proper "Commodore A1200" label...

...and I think most Amigans will consider it "real enough"!

Now if Individual Computers can produce a PowerPC accelerator card that supports Amiga OS4 would be an awesome combination.

Some would argue that the Vampire has just become the hardware for the Natami project ;)

I thought the Natami project had been abandoned? Ashame too because I was excited about what they were trying to do.

If it's no upgrade from standard Amiga1200, it's no point is it?
You just get a old Amiga1200 from ebay.

And if your going to make a upgraded Amiga1200 way not improve on it a bit

Chipram is much faster and can be accessed by the processor at full speed even when eight bitplanes are switched on. (This feature can be switched off during run-time, without reboot, for any S/W requiring old, slow chipram)

It will have at least two clock ports (with additional clock ports optionally provided by CPU card, depending on model). On board clock ports can either run on original speed (for compatibility), or in a special high speed mode.

Power supply was originally one of the weak spots, and if you are unlucky those 20 year old ebay machines you mentioned can come with aged and flaky power supplies that can actually be dangerous to the Amiga H/W. This new machine will have a modern and effective power supply. The Amiga Reloaded will use a modern laptop power supply as it's only power source. Input voltage may range from 14V to 19V DC. Modern DC-DC voltage regulators will provide proper regulation of all local voltages with enough power reserves for top-notch expansions.

Use the keyboard to switch the computer on/off.

Flickerfixer output through VGA or HDMI connectors. Or 15kHz RGB output through the Amiga-DB23 monitor connector or a 15-pin VGA connector. You choose!

The old RCA audio connectors has been upgraded to a modern 3.5mm stereo jack (for today's audio equipment).

Kickstart ROM will be in flash ROM. Flash space will be 1MByte.

A standard PC floppy drive can be used as an original 880k Amiga disk drive, without modification. All track loaders and copy-protected games will work.
Or if you have one, you can use an original Amiga floppy drive.
Or floppy drive emulators:

The Amiga Reloaded will use a 32-bit IO subsystem for mass-storage and IO expansion. The standard performance of this subsystem is 14MB/s raw data, which is about the performance that you also get from Z3 and popular IDE speeders. This performance could be exceed with certain accelerators.

Two CF-card slots will give the Amiga Reloaded the same capabilities like the ACA500 and ACA500plus. The Boot card will be internal, and the aux card will be accessible from the outside of the computer. They are part of the 32-bit IO subsystem, so they are considerably faster than the IDE of an A1200 computer.

Optional dual-port USB2.0 High-speed (480MBit).

Optional 100MBit Ethernet.

New case made of ASA plastic instead of the ABS on the original means it will not suffer from any yellowing!

New expansion trap door that gives better case ventilation:

So no, this is not "and old A1200 you can get from ebay"...

Yeah, TRIPOS is still calling it "Amiga Reloaded", I noticed.
And has anyone heard from Bill recently?

I tried contacting him and got no reply.
He really ought to consider doing something with the last asset he has (the name) before he goes to his grave with it and without accomplishing anything.
