And still the usual crying comes, no matter how/what they do.

@HyperionMP / @SimplePPC

it's nice to see development on the A1222 at last underway, but even more importantly, that hyperion is reaching out to customers again via their blog, youtube, facebook, etc. connecting with customers and communicating is exactly what so many of us have asked for, and it's important to show our appreciation that they are starting to listen. thank you!

@tlosm

Wow, for once made a fairly realistic

The 440 is pretty weak.

But how the 1222 will compare to the 460 is questionable.

Not that it matters, since by the time the A1222 is available, Applied Micro will have long been out of the processor business.

I'm not in any way throwing shade, but asking out of genuine technical interest:

The A1222 board was first shown a year ago.

What exactly is involved in adopting AOS that requires such an extensive period of time?

@ne_one

You want a view inside that process?
Good luck.

You'd think it would be relatively simple to port it, but again remember, while the board was designed and built, Hyperion's focus until recently was the X5000 port.

So they haven't been working on this for a year.

@wawa

It seems closer to 40 seconds, from the time the OS is selected at 16 seconds to the appearance of the desktop at 56 seconds. That's not fast, but from what I hear it's faster than Windows 10 on modest hardware. I wouldn't know -- I live in a blessed alternate reality where Windows doesn't actually exist.

people dont understand one thing:
the os loading is relative to a: device and the filesystem.
you see the machine booting from the first time os4 i think for now is important it is booting.
in time you will see the machine will have fixing and optimizations and all we be faster like on other machine.

I just hope that once both the X5000 and A1222 are finally out in the wild that A-Eon/ Hyperion will soley concentrate on getting much needed software and fully completed drivers out for the new hardware (of course including the X1000). I know it's probably far off but it would be damn nice to have all cores on these new AmigaOS machines fully working some day

I wouldn't worry too much about the booting times in an early preview version.

I have seen another os4 machine boot up in an early stage and booting times there was really annoying slow, but that was in the early days, now the booting times are nice on that machine.

+100 Software for A1

Make a cup of coffee while booting. It's fast. In this Win7 pressing the On button is nearly as fast as the XE. The difference is the net for work and fun+printing. Some games too.

@PR

I have an idea: why not put a few questions like quiz games on tv during first boot. Or a simple puzzle

It will be more fun to wait

Which means it's more likely a resources issue since A-EON is bankrolling the support.

Somewhat related:

Does the new hardware support effort begin with a thin host? I'm surprised that the entire exercise hasn't gone this way, at least as a short term deliverable.

Correct, none of us speaks for the MorphOS developers, AND they are always reticent to make public announcements.
Also, repeating privately made statements of a speculative nature is unfair.

BUT...so far it would APPEAR to be that the answer to that question is no .
